The Michael Jackson bit, Peter Kay was doing this gig at the O2 in London, when Jacko was supposed to be doing his shows. He died, the space became available and Kay took it.

I was at the O2 setting up for the Jackson tour when we got the call he had died. It was a very strange night.

I have never understood that reference. I obviously thought it was after Michael Jackson died but didn't know the rest. Thank you.
@user-ks1he8ip9sАй бұрын
@@jimmykinney4086sadly the info provided was wrong. Kay didn't take over the slot. His tour was months and months after Jacko was scheduled to finish

Love Peter Kay, he's very good at the "observational" part of comedy, and does it with a disarming Northern charm (Yorkshire). He actually disappeared for a long time due to his poor mental health, he's only recently started touring again.

Also, my mother had a set prayer she used for grace at table. At the end was, “bless this food you have provided. May we use it for its intended use.” My sister’s first time up at prayer bat (she was five) went well until the end. “May we use it for toots (rhymes with foots) and tender juice.”

Peter Kay is a national treasure in the UK. He comes from Bolton area in the north of England, hence the accent. He has been a star in the UK for more than 20 years and his tours always sell out fast. He is a stand up comedian plus he does his own comedy drama TV shows, which are all well worth watching and generally funny as feck.

Peter Kay is from my hometown Bolton, he did a few british comedy series that i would recommend you watch, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddys Road to Nowhere, i am however unsure whether itd be worth it for you guys. so many of the jokes would be lost on the context of a lot of jokes just not being known...😅 think I'll rewatch them now though to double check though, thanks for cheering my day up
@eclectica1Ай бұрын
Great 'karaoke' impression at the beginning there. Don't know if anybody else has already answered this in the comments, but to answer your question, Peter Kay is from Bolton, Greater Manchester, UK. The accent/dialect over there is particularly strong. Source: me who lived in that area for several years. Edit: The Duffy song he's referring to, she does indeed sing 'mercy', but her Welsh accent definitely makes it come across as 'birdseed'. And yes, it is 'he'll never phone you'.

Ok misheard as real words is one thing and obviously everyone does it. Even if the words seem to be arranged nonsensically, because we have plenty of more well anunciated examples to build that mess on. It's when I make up words because I can't make out what they say, and sing it that way for years before finding out the real words that I feel a bit ridiculous
