I would guess that it's mainly a 502 thing. Best thing to do is look through the MdT books for Carentan and St Mere Eglise and count how many you see. There was one more PFC in a PIR company that Pvt (see the TO&E for that gem) so if you see plenty of PFC stripes on 506th members then its just 502 qwerk. 506 however seems to have a huge amount of drawn/painted on stripes, giving themselvse there own little qwerk about rank insignia
