And 72 year olds 😁 Somehow they manage to sound nostalgic, original and new at the same time. As far as nostalgia is concerned I think that's partly their incredible musicianship which is best appreciated by watching their live videos

This was the band's first music video ever and it saved the group. They were endangered of being disbanded when they shot this video but luckily someone uploaded it to social media where it took off and saved the group. Since then the group gained control over their music, their costumes have changed, Miku learned to play guitar (she was faking it in this video) and the have over 130 songs to enjoy. When you delve more into their catalog you'll see this band is criminally underrated. Welcome down the pigeon hole.

Band-Maid does not do bad songs. No, seriously. They have 120+ songs and there is not one that I didn't like. The quality is baffling. Pick a song, any song, and it will be great! Oh, and they absolutely shine live! 😎🤘

I recommend their songs "From Now On (Official Music Video)" and "Hate? (Official Live Video)" when you are ready to see newer songs from them. But it can also be nice to watch "Freedom (Official Live Video)" and "Domination (Official Live Video)" to get a better sense of how they have grown over the years.

This was their very first music video, from way back in 2014, when they had been together less than a year. Band founder / 2nd Guitar / 2nd voice Miku Kobato (pigtails, red flower) didn't play guitar before starting the band. She had only been studying guitar for a few months and if you pay attention she isn't really trying to pretend to play here. To this day, lead guitartist Kanami Tono generally records all the guitar tracks in the studio, and Miku has to learn the parts for their live shows. Since you enjoyed this, their very first video, you might enjoy going to their KZfaq channel and just watching the songs from the earliest to the newest (which would actually take a while), so you can watch how they change and improve. Or, since they are a killer live band, you could just look at their Official Live videos and take your pick.

This is the song that saved Band Maid just over ten years ago, record label was about to cut ties with them, they are still together, same line up, you should check something out by Band Maid that is more recent, it would be worth your time for sure, and the Band Maid die hards are the best, they will support you for checking them out....

Although not considered their best, this song is highly regarded as it is the song that saved the band. The label was going to pull the plug if the song didn't do well. Thankfully, a J-rock Facebook group posted it to their page, and the MV took off! 10+ years later, still going strong. All original members!

New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence. I haven't even begun to say all I could.
