First Peter did not go lower than Tim. That was Tim's layering. Peter was singing in a higher range, but was drowned out by Tim. Secondly they were filming this from two different locations. Tim was somewhere on a Carribean Island filming his part where he was doing a private event, while Peter filmed his back in Oregon, therefore the light and darkness. This was from the Hobbit movie. Did you notice the camera shaking at the end of Tim's part? Oh yeah, and that was a G1 he hit.

I'm pretty sure that when recording the video, he isn't actually singing along completely, very high & low parts you don't just sing easily would be replaced by singing it an octave higher or lower & a growl I highly doubt he would do when recording the video. But.. maybe.. I wouldn't know..

Tim's growl at the end is fearing perfectly the theme of the misty mountains. Peter's voice in interlude and solo to high notes actually make you think that you are actually in the forest of misty mountains and you hear the dryads and the elves of forest singing while Tim's voice makes you think at the battle inside the Dwarven halls

Hi Dennis, just to let you know that Peter did this song (Misty Mountains ) by himself doing all the layers and this was done before he collaborated with Tim. so it might what to go back and react to Peter's solo version of this song hope you check it out. And yes that last note shook the camera did you notice how long he held that note👍

This production is so phenomenal that if they ever made another remake of The Hobbit, this should be used in that movie, and it should also be nominated in the music category for an Oscar!! I wonder, Isn’t there some kind of awards for KZfaq productions? If not, there should be! I would nominate and vote for Peter!!

I think that Peter remains on higher notes while Tim's voice is like "cruising" in the bass notes and let Peter to do all the amazing things with his voice to high notes, I m feeling that Tim's voice as a bass singer is building the harmony while Peter's voice give more brightness and balance to the whole harmony

The dubbing harmonies in the background came from both. If you want to know what kind of range Tim Foust has, listen to his new video, "come go with me". You won't be disappointed. Tim and Peter have done so many videos together and I always live the sounds they create together. Gladys like this as much as I did.

General consensus among the vocal coaches who’ve seen it say Tim’s last note is a G#1, peter was filming in Oregon at the same time as Tim was filming on Grand Cayman island, there’s about 120 layers in the mix on this and I personally believe that we only hear Tim when we see Tim. Only Geoff (among the well known basses) can hope to reach that note, even then it would take techniques that Tim doesn’t use, mainly because he doesn’t need to.

Yeah if you look at Tim at the end the camera shakes. I think he’s singing a G#1. I don’t think Peter was singing lower than Tim but in the background Tim goes pretty high although not as high as Peter. I think Peter has an amazing range too....maybe 4 octaves. It’s just so good. The dwarves sing it in the Hobbit. Peter is amazing at layering. Just their two voices, it’s remarkable. Great reaction!

Here's a link to a trailer for the movie: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o5tyeLeTks6wl3U.html&ab_channel=NewTrailerBuzz The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings are fictional stories that fall under the fantasy genre. As for the costumes in the movies they are drawing inspiration from medieval times and viking age among others. I think i was around the age of your boys when my dad read the novels to me and my brother. I've been a J.R.R. Tolkien fan ever since. I highly recommend you watch the movies.

I'm not trying to knock the job that Tim and Peter did on this one... but it isn't my favorite cover of Misty Mountains. I find Tim's accent intrusive on some of the lines, to be honest. Yes, he's got some brutal low notes, but there are just elements of it that lessen my enjoyment of this one. No, if you like this cover of the song, you need to look into Jonathan Young's cover of this same song. He maybe doesn't hit _as_ low as Tim does on that last note, and he doesn't have the cinematography element the way this one does, but as a complete musical package, he just _destroys_ this song. And yes, the medieval fantasy outfits are appropriate to the setting of the book/movie.
