I have a cup with Murphey's oil soap in it. I put any icky brush, bristle down, into the mos and leave it for about a week. Not only does the paint come out, but the soap conditions the bristles!

Murphy oil soap is a must! It takes all the paint out. So great!

So I leave a jar with Murphy’s oil soap and water and just leave my brushes in there a few days. They come out like new. Also I use a paper towel or baby wipe to take off the heavy paint first then out them in the soap.😊

Hi Jackie!! For the quinacridone gold, painted paper studios has a video about the recipe! It’s 4 parts transparent red iron oxyde and 1-2 parts nickel azo yellow ❤

Thank you so much - someone just told me the same thing and I have the red iron oxide and nickel azo yellow coming to me from Blick! I’m so relieved - I haven’t watched the video yet, but I’ve heard the color is SUPER close to quin. gold! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

These are great! So sorry I missed the live session. I leave brushes in water until ... when they get washed. Forgot one and paint got a bit hard so I soaked in nail polish remover until it softened.

I do the same! Haven’t tried nail polish remover but I only have 1-2 crispy brushes. I keep them around for some random marks 😆

Thank you! No mirror, but I do have an ipad on my desk to watch the live so I can view the chat and ensure that whatever I'm making is still visible. Try it and let me know how it goes! I've found the art community on KZfaq to be VERY gracious and supportive!

I *think* I’ve made a good copy using green gold and magenta. I haven’t tried to for years but from memory I think that’s right😂

Wow, what a transformation!! I'm curious about the roll of blue paper towels ... I've not seen such in blue, are they a crafting/paint specialty? Better than standard kitchen paper towels?

Thank you! They’re actually shop paper towels - “shop” as in mechanic. They’re cloth-like and I like how they feel. Plus you can reuse them for ages if you rinse them out and let them dry 🤗

I treat my brushes horribly. I have resorted to rinsing as best I can in my water jar and just wiping with a towel. Murphy has saved a few brushes for me but in my experience it doesn’t get the paint out of the base of the bristles very well. That’s ok. I get some unexpected results with them.

Haha! SAME. I really need to try Murphy's Oil Soap - I love unexpected marks so that sounds like a win-win! :)

Have you considered working in gouache? (That’s the opaque watercolour type of gouache, not the Matt acrylic type) I use it for a plen-air friendly alternative to acrylics and oils exactly because you don’t have to worry about cleaning brushes. and it’s also cheaper than watercolours, especially since you don’t need fancy cotton paper unless you’re really using so much water you’d be better off with watercolour anyway. There’s also cheap kids versions everywhere if you’re covering large areas.

I have only used Acryla (?) gouache, which doesn’t reactivate with more water once it dries. I’d like to try regular gouache but I work so often with layering media that it’s nice to be able to control what shows up between layers :) Thanks for the reminder that I still have more art supply adventures in my future 😆❤️

What store are you looking in? I’d love to find it, but I’m not overly optimistic ☺️ It’s been out of stock at Blick and Jerry’s and they will not be refilling it 😭

Washing brushes? 😂 Mine live in water and I change it when it’s so bad the water impacts the paint colours. I’ve use medium quality brushes and don’t find sitting in water matters to be honest.

Eventually all of the colored parts of the handles chip off eventually if the water is too high - ask me how I know. 😂😂😂

I know! Apparently one of the major ingredients has been over-used (or something like that) and is no longer available for paint 😩

SAME! 😆 I keep buying shirts that will be my “good” shirts (essentially just black tank tops without paint on them) but then I go paint and forget my apron and whoops, I made a new paint shirt 🤦‍♀️😂

33.36 and 12 ads later. it makes you want to gnaw off your own leg. 26 ads in total, 9 in a row on one. do advertisers really think that entices me to buy their product? you enticed me to watch to the end though!
