@@vapperzz0006 Yes and no. If I'm not mistaken (of what I remember from watching the making of), Michael ditched the AMAs that day to stay and prepare everything for this recording. Other artists like Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and Hall & Oates performed in the AMAs and went straight from there to the studio to record this. They first recorded the group chorus and sent home whoever was not a soloist, then pulled an all nighter to record the solos. They must've been so tired after it all, and still sound perfect.

I went years without listening to this song mainly because it was so played out back in the day! You could not get away from this song. But watching it now brings in a kind of sadness. Many of these stars were in their prime, some were already legends, some were just beginning - young and beautiful. Now, some have retired, some are still performing and rocking the gray hair, and sadly, some have passed on! We need another "We Are the World" complete with the social distancing, of course! I'm not sure if there's even enough talent currently to pull it off though! They tried a few years back and it was a joke and sucked a$$! Thank you for the smile and the reflection back to an awesome time in my life! Without even checking out your other videos I tapped that sub!

Dude this was an awesome reaction I started laughing when you were talking about imagining getting the newer gen rappers doing one of these because there’s no way that will ever happen but man if it did it would be worse than a fat guy playing dodgeball🤣

I was thinking the same thing about today's artists trying to do something like this. Unfortunately, a lot of singers do not have true talent like the ones you are seeing in this video. You use to have to be able to sing to get a record deal. Now they can just use technology to make you sound like you have a voice until they have to sing live and then you realize they are a fraud.

I first became aware of this in the 2000s when I heard Adam Levine sing live on TV and was like, "What is this?! He sounds awful compared to his songs on the radio." That's when I learned about autotune. I actually am happy when good artists can still sing too. In 2019, my mom and I saw Celine Dion in concert, she's still got it! My whole family also saw Bon Jovi too and Jon still got it. They don't make them like they use to . . .

Diana Ross was sort of a mentor to Michael when the Jackson 5 started out with Motown. To think Smokey Robinson, Jeffery Osborne, Harry Belafonte or Bette Midler didn’t get a solo line; they are also legend’s.
