It seems to me that with a 5.9:1 HC head on a newly rebuilt engine, you should see higher cylinder compression readings than this. You should try testing again using another gauge before relying on these numbers. Pressure gauges are notoriously unreliable.

5.9 x 14 = 82.5 psi
