In this tutorial I show you how I made this modern art inspired wafer paper wave cake decorated with artificial wildflowers. This is a bridal expo demo cake, but it can absolutely be done on a real cake. Just pretend that these tiers are filled and crumb coated cakes:)

Hi Mary, I love your cake designs! I found this one hard to follow though, as it was hard for me to see what was going on. I thibk it was because it was white on white. I couldn't see what you were doing verry well. The end result was stunning as alwauys, I just couldn't see the process. Maybe you could do another one some day with a coloured base or colourerd strips please? Also, I do aplogise if it's just me & my glasses! Haha! Love your work Mary! 😄🤍

No, those are artificial. Unfortunately, we don't have time to make them very often, and clients choose to go with artificial because of the cost of edible.

This turned out beautifully! So i want to achieve this look for a cake but the baker doesn't work with wafer paper. But upon seeing your tutorial i think i can create the waves myself. However is there any other way to adhere the waves? Like using spikes or something?

You could try piping some buttercream on the back. And secure it with toothpicks until the buttercream sets up. I haven't tried, so I can't promise, but it might work.
