Thank you! It’s for mechanical and some storage. I don’t like dark dank spaces, and money doesn’t grow on trees here. Living on the main level with direct light and what will be an incredible deck for outdoor living and entertaining is what it’s all about for me!!!

@@Eger118877 - yes, I am that Ramelle. Thanks for the compliment. I am extremely happy with the house this far. Just bummed there’s another delay. This time it’s due to a PBB tweeter project. The 1900s cottage is taking longer. My house is ready for interior paint since Monday. Hoping it’s just one more week. I’m going to vacuum up the drywall and mud dust to help speed things along! Grateful the guys let me put in some sweat equity!

Jamie has a great point with flashing vs not flashing properly, so much work goes into our houses, only to have it go to waste if the proper steps aren't executed.

A lapse on flashing details resulted in my chimney chase nearly falling off the side of the house, substantial amounts of water coming in when it rains, and a really expensive repair. The water managed to rust out the chimney box, so the end result was a wall with a window where there used to be a fireplace. So Jaime, keep being on that flashing game. Your homeowners will appreciate it later.

As a Norwegian, it feels so wrong yet interesting to see the siding attached directly to the framing like that, with no ventilation gap between. We always have a gap of at least 25mm/1", usually more, between the frame and the siding, which is open top & bottom to allow air to circulate between the layers and remove moisture. Very interesting to see the nuances in building techniques and code, although with the Norwegian climate in mind this in particular gives me a mild heart attack!

The siding looks really good, quite professional 😉 As for the 12" x 2" board fitting on deck support, kudos on the accuracy. The non-basements is huge, I know it will make the plumbers job easier, but it does seem a shame not to use it for something practical. The building does look good. Take care and see you all soon 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨

Just for clarification, CCA treated would corrode aluminum. ACQ treated will, in about 200 years, or when the treated is no longer treated. If you were on the West Coast, it’s a different treatment and material. They use Doug Fir. Having said that, I appreciate Jaime’s little flashing jobs and the thought that goes behind all of your details. Peace!
