This is the moment a pier caught fire in the San Diego suburb of Oceanside on Thursday afternoon.
The fire started in a vacant restaurant at the western end of the Californian pier, according to officials.
Multiple boats and a helicopter battled the inferno.
The Oceanside Fire Department has asked all residents to avoid the area as they work on extinguishing the blaze.
The Oceanside Pier is the longest wooden pier on the western US coastline, stretching over 500m into the Pacific Ocean.
