i love how the factory used an 8 cylinder CIS fuel distributor on these to feed a boosted 4. Back in the day, i was going to go such a route myself using a MB 8 cylinder unit, but then after much injector testing to find the Bosch CIS injectors with the most flow i found a way to get the same fuel (i think final flow was 420cc/min per injector) using 4 injectors. Saved me a lot of work trying to fit a MB V8 k-lambda fuel head into the engine bay of a Golf Cabriolet Mk1. i did try using the standard 924 turbo CIS on my Cabby, but it didn't flow enough fuel unfortunately :( Fun times :) Thanks for posting this video.

Notice that the engine is not based on the 924S and 944 "Porsche" block ;)

Very interesting that loctite (or just some kind of lubricant) is used on the studs going into the block. Not only that but it looks like they are inserted into the block with a different torqueing style than the aftermarket ARP studs. Is the 2.2 a factory head stud engine?

Love your video...! I require a set of standard size crankshaft bearings for my own rebuild project. Here in the US, 924 engine parts are becoming increasingly rare. Any information about my acquiring these parts would be most appreciated.

I have 2 87 944 one turbo one NA. But my gosh what a weird little engine, good work but never really a 924 fan even though it's where the 944 came from good thing they made the turbo 924 to set the standard

The 924S (2.5) is faster then the 924 turbo

No it's not. The 924S has 150bhp (163bhp for 1988 model year only), the 924Turbo has either 170bhp (series 1) or 177bhp (series 2). The 924Turbo also weighs about 80KG less than the 924S.

How do you know where to set the advancement of the adj cam?

It is only the dynamometer results telling you, but the experience proved that at 5 to 8 degrees BTDC you should set the symetrical valve lift.

i have an 80 924 need a replacement fuel distribution block.... any ideas on where to find a new or reman fact?

Wer hat denn den Beginn dieses Videos geschnitten.... Wenn die Sequenzen noch kürzer gewesen wäre, dann hätte man diese bei einer Epileptikerbehandlung einsetzen können....

Entweder der Fahrer kann nicht fahren oder das Auto sieht besser aus, als es ist. Einen alten M3 sollte man locker abhängen, wenn der Motor 310 Pferde hat. Spätestens in Kurven ist der 924 viel besser zu beherrschen, bessere Bremsen hat er sowieso. Ich versteh den Hype um m3 nicht. Die waren neu schon nicht so toll, durchzugsschwach und wirklich schlechte Bremsen, aus dem damaligen 5 er.

It's weird how the porsche community regards this car. It really is a good product and grew into a much better one when it got a porsche engine.... but keep hating, you're keeping the prices down for us poor people :)

A+ comment for Robert McGregor Though the present day Porsche community actually rates this rather well. It's the plebs who never owned anything but the average sedan or station wagon who seem to think they're qualified to pass judgment on cars they've never driven but have *heard* are bad.
