I am sorry, but I just feel you making fun of a person with a moon face and you think it's funny is terrible!!!! I am in the middle of a terrible flare-up and have had to take large doses of prednisone which has my face swollen. I look to you- tube looking for answers and I click your video and you start of by mocking ill people. Wow! Honestly your no help.

Oh Lucy, I'm so sorry this rubbed you the wrong way! That was in no way my intention. I personally had to take very high doses of several steroids for over 9 months. My goal with this video and many others is not to point fingers and make fun, but instead to help us find the humor in the moment. Find a way to smile while on prednisone. To fight the side effects with information and humor. I guess this one didn't accomplish that for you.

I felt the same! I did not watch the video because of it... And only read the comments... Gained 22 kilo in less than a month.. My immuunsystem broke down and i could not walk.. I don't recognise myself in the mirror etc.. Looking for tips on youtube and than seeing this.. Like someome is just making fun of it... 😥😫 Sorry.. But it feels not ok nice....

Hi doctor, I have been using corticosteroids for 9 years and now I have stopped using them for nearly 1 year but the moon face phenomenon has not completely gone away. So does using corticosteroids for a long time cause the moon face phenomenon to become chronic? 😨

I'm gonna start steroids again in a few days and I'm really dreading the moonface. I had it last time. And right now I have the smallest, slimmest face with really high cheekbones and I'm going to miss it so much. I know it sounds shallow but it is what it is.

I can understand..I too had slim face with beautiful cheekbones and I have been on steroids for more than a year now..I miss myself..in the beginning my face swelled a lot..I used to ignore looking myself at the mirror..but thankfully the swelling is getting reduced..

JUST REALIZED YESTERDAY 7.4.24. THAT MY LONGTERM STEROID CREAM FOR PSORIASES WAS ONE OF THE CAUSAL FACTOR TO MY MOONFACE. OMG

i got diagnosed for nephrotic syndrome . and it started with 70mg dosage . my apptite was on fire and well at first i did not take the anything seriously and ate like a monster and keep lying in bed that caused a weight gain as i started the medication at 71kg and during the second month it was 85kg medication was reduced to 60 mg so i started gym again and had good diet and this is my third month and although my weight is still 81kg my belly fat has reduced and more muscle mass ive gained and my dosage is 40 mg now and although my face got swollen in second month it started to reduce in third month and salt is not only the thing , fat is also a major part in moon face and exercise is important and a good diet is also important

Hi.. Same here... I got dianosed with igan nephrophthy... I was on 60 mg wyselone for 3 months.. Got tappered down to 20 mg but God side effects were hell... Moon face back hump.. Tummy.. Depression... Anger.. Now I'm a bit normal but body is still heavy.. I cut sugar n salt.. But still.. What should I do further... My legs are very weak.. I take light walk but i got tired easly

@@nainajan8356 right now i am also taking 20mg , and trust me when i worked out i sweated like crazy and my heart rate reached 198 while intense workouts , and i too think that my legs have gotten weaker as i get leg cramps when i do cardio , and for you - cutting salt and sugar is not okay , you should take them in low amount do not completely cut them , and you should eat less calories than you burn , and eat foods that keep you fuller for long like oats and stay away from soy products , reduce the use of oil in daily dishes , and when you feel hungry between normal meal times just eat a cucumber , and majorly salt and carbs retain the water in our body that makes us look puffy and fat so you should eat less carbs and eat carbs that are complex ( search for food that are considered complex carbs ) as body takes more time to digest them and keep you full for longer . drink warm water with lemon in morning empty stomach (as i believe that your doctor would have stopped your empty stomach medicine ) and if your legs are weak then just do normal planks and push ups while on your knees and just do normal walking and increase the distance slowly and you can do crunches , leg raises , i talked with my doctor and he said that once the medication stops you will be back to normal so no need to take stress just control your food intake and exercise , and don’t worry as i know about feeling bad the whole day , sleeping so much , always feeling hungry , and how bad we look now , it was one of the saddest times in my life , but i trust that we will be back to normal soon . and when we do get back to looking normal and healthy . just forget all this because it was just a bad phase of our life 👍🏻

I have moon face but i just eat dexamethasone 0.5 mg 1 x each day before sleep at night as long 5 month , are this is factor who i get my moon face or not?

Its a terrible side effect😔. Thank god I need to take it for 3 months maximum. But I must admit its doing pretty great job decreasing inflammation fast. Going to listen to your advice. Thank you!

I just want to eat the things that make me happy without looking like a disgusting pig... The transplant was supposed to make my life better and indeed taking a huge pile of meds is better than being bound to a machine 4 hours a day thrice a week but I feel like transplant patients have no right to be pretty... Being ugly is the price I pay for freedom

I’ve had steroids for Hodgkin disease (I was 16 at the start, I’m now 17) for a total of 7 months with breaks (first two months 125mg a day, last 5 months 75mg a day), I’ve been off steroids for about 6 weeks now and my face is quite a bit less puffy but it’s still far from where it was. How long do you think it would take before it’s all normal again?

I was in the Er with an allergic reaction to contrast for a cat scan. My legs and face and abdomen are swollen. I feel and look terrible :(

@@AmyChen-py3jj I took it for 3 months (for crohn disease 60gr and after we taped down), I tried to strongly cut sugar the first month. Even cut rice, bread, pastas... all of that, but keep fruits because vitamins are important too ( no juice). I haven't gain weight. No fat, but I was very swollen. My face, my body, my lips even... now, I'm fine. My face is back to normal, my body is not swollen anymore. Prednisone was hard to take, I really felt like not being myself for 3 months, but I feel so good now. It really save me, I can lead a normal life now. Like reborn. I wish you to have the same experience. I'm sure you're still very beautiful with the Moon Face 🤍

I got a face allergy that gave me moon face so a doctor gave me prednisone which made it worse 🤦‍♂️. Its been almost two weeks and my face looks different :/

I have been on MOON FACE MAKER for the past 12 months 70mg got relapse 2 times at 20mg now from last 2 months on 70 mg daily. Earlier the side effects were not visible but now visible face fat moon face is their. Will sugur and salt be enough to reduce moon face or their is something else also that i can do in order to reduce it ?

Hi! I have been taking 20 mg prednisone for 1 week. Down to 10mg for 2 weeks and there’s no visible moon face in me. Now i’m on 5mg and I noticed that my face puffed and bigger 😔😔 what does it mean? I know it should be lessen the side effects coz it’s already low dosage but idk what happened 😔

I have ulcerative colitis and have been on prednisone several times at high doses as well as some low doses. In every case the moon face and other side effects don’t show up right away but take several weeks or even months to really set in. I also get an acne rash all over my body when I take these type of steroids. Tanning in a tanning bed is the only thing that helps that and was suggested to me by my dermatologist.

Anti depressants can have the exact same effects.

Which effects? I don’t know of many antidepressants that can cause moon face…

@@PrednisonePharmacist it doesn’t happen to everyone. But I 💯 get it on most antidepressants especially Paxil. It’s unrelated to weight gain too because on some antidepressants I lost weight but my face remained bloated. Must be water retention. Unfortunately I had to discontinue the medication because of this side effect.
