I know this was from a year ago, but mormons are taught that they usually shouldnt make friends outside the church and if it is outside it is to try and convert them. It's sad. Most of the time mormons is brainwashed into hate, convinced by a cycle its love and happiness. Mormonism IS a cult. Not all mormons are bad, though. I just wish I knew what to say to help them understand, but its religious trauma; Its tough.

@@bobrussell8339 Really? What makes you think I am a Protestant? The most important thing we all believe is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he Atoned for our sins. Hearing from people about how they decided to believe in God/Christ and what keeps them motivated to serve him is what what I like to read about. Living that "faith" each day is what we all have in common and I am sure that I can learn something from other peoples experiences. @quinngerber82375 жыл бұрын
They are supported through tithing and other offerings from members of the church. This is not necessarily "getting paid" as much as it's giving them a place to stay and food to eat. Many of the current authorities are retired and had jobs that paid them a lot - our current prophet, for example, was a heart surgeon - and so they use tithing to get them the rest of the way there.
@TEA-fj3ut5 жыл бұрын
@@quinngerber8237 That's understandable to an extent. However, still needs to be more transparency as to the their salaries. Seemingly the church doesn't want to disclose their lucrative lifestyles. The church has become engrossed in materialism of worldliness of ornate buildings, temples, businesses, properties, and investments. There is always a money trail. Yet when people loose their homes to floods and fires. Its always the same. Don't forget to pay your tithe.
@kasenpeterson78835 жыл бұрын
LAWRENCE Candel Temples are the house of the Lord, and I hope ya know that. Of course they’re going to be made beautiful. And if you haven’t noticed, the church volunteers are almost always FIRST to come to the aid of people whoms house got destroyed or flooded. I’m not sure the church would pay people for the damage done to their home, or else people would just destroy their homes and think they got free money. Tithe is something we always got to pay respects to. Just like in the Old Testament, the prophets and people paid 10% or what they owned to God almost monthly. Usually a sacrifice. The best lamb they had. Just like the story of Job. He lost EVERYTHING and still paid honor to Heavenly Father.

😂😂😂. This is true, I have seen families with a bunch of kids, but I think it's just common because of coincidence or something it's not something that is expected or anything, it just happens

Because it is said that having children strengthens the family units (husband, wife, children) and in heaven you become stronger by having more children (spiritual children). We don't drink Coffee because in the Word of Wisdom, which we believe to be revelation from God, it says that drinks like Coffee (not that specific wording, but that's how it's interpreted) are bad for us. It also says a lot of other things about health and what we shouldn't eat. We believe that at one point we were commanded by God to practice polygamy but we are no longer commanded to and that polygamy can only be practiced if God specifically instructs us. Why do you worship a god that was once a man and came from another planet? Why don't you worship the Creator?
@ameliej29834 жыл бұрын
Are you taking about God or Jesus here? It helps to think of God as the builder and Jesus the architect. Jesus designed Earth but God made it. Jesus was a man, but when he died he went to the celestial kingdom. God was never man. He’s always been a spirit in heaven. We worship both equally.
@bobrussell83394 жыл бұрын
First comment to Beach Star. In the D & C the Lord advises to first learn the doctrine before you teach it. Your answer here is completely erroneous. Here's my answer to Mr Lewis. There are three members of the Godhead: God the Father. As Paul teaches, he is the father of all his premortal spirit children. This spirit child of the Father resides in all persons who are born to this earth. The New Testament teaches that this spirit child of the Father is what gives the mortal body life. At death the physical body decays, but the eternal spirit child of the Father moves on to the next world. God the Son, also known as Jesus Christ, Jehovah, Lord, etc. was the "first born" spirit child of God the Father in the premortal life. He functioned there as a member of the Godhead, along with his Father. It is he who created the heavens and the earth according to John in the New Testament. He is also known as the Father of Heaven and Earth because he created them. He is also known in the scriptures as the Father of Eternal Life because his atoning sacrifice (suffering, death, and resurrection) results in the resurrection of all mankind and the possibility of eternal life (aka as heaven to most) for those who have faith in Christ and his power to save, repent of their sins, be baptized and receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost by a legal administrator ( someone holding God's priesthood which is the power and authority to perform saving ordinances that will be recognized by God), and endure to the end. For a good example see Acts 2 where this is taught by Peter. The other member of the Godhead is the Holy Spirit whose role is to testify of the Father and the Son, to sanctify (cleanse) the souls of the repentant and provide the baptism of fire (aka baptism of the spirit) as commanded by Jesus. Since Jesus was the creator, we do in fact worship him along with the Father. Before coming to the earth, as recorded in the Old Testament, Jesus was known as Jehovah or Lord. It was he who called prophets and revealed his word to them which they recorded and which we have in the Old Testament. Before coming to the earth, Jesus was a personage of spirit, a spirit son of the Father. If you have read the Bible you know that he was born of Mary, and became a mortal man with a mortal body subject to the same things we are subject to in this life. He suffered in Gethsemane and on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He died and three days later he was resurrected with an immortal body in which he ascended into heaven where he still has that immortal body. If you worship Jesus Christ, don't you also worship a God who was once a mortal man? All persons live on a planet. Where do you think God resides? Do you think he just floats around in the vast darkness of space? Remember that Jesus taught his apostles, "In my Father's house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you." Do you really think the Father's house is just floating around in space or that the mansions Christ he is preparing for other faithful mortals are also just floating around in space? Mr Lewis, on what do you base such an idea?

Some people are really confused because they think that we changed our name. The "mormon" church's real title has always been The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We were nicknamed mormons because of our book that we read along side the bible, called the Book of Mormon (we believe that it is another testament of Jesus Christ, and yes, we do read the bible!) When we came out and said "We are called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints", it was only to bring to attention our real name and that we ARE Christians. The entire Church is centered around Christ and He and God are the only people we worship. No hateee ❤️❤️❤️ I just wanted to clarify. Have a great day/night

People always talk about us members being nice and happy all the time. And in principle I agree, I'm not refuting the sentiment and it's obvious to me why we have so much light, but there is one place where I've seen that all not be the case. And that's playing "Church Ball". I'm mostly joking of course, my ward plays volleyball every Thursday night and we all have loads of uplifting fun without taking things too seriously. But when my siblings and I were young we would play in the basketball league of a different church. I think I only went to stake basketball with my dad once as a kid cause I didn't enjoy it. So when they say the gym is for fights, I can't entirely refute that 😂

The reason people ask if Mormons are saved is that it is not clearly presented. If someone earns salvation by works then they aren't considered saved. Since Mormons have to earn the celestial kingdom then it's not clear if they are trying to earn the lowest kingdom as well. If you want to communicate your faith jargon used is significant. Some also wet ould say that mormons are not trinittarian so cannot be saved. Not my view. For example I think Way International are saved. You have to explain your salvation doctrine using words that non Mormons can understand if you dont want to be misunderstood.
@Jaxon_Fowers3 жыл бұрын
We believe that if you do your best to be better each day, and repent as often as you can and follow Jesus Christ, then you will be saved. The grace of Jesus saves us, and doing things like following the commandments and getting babtised are the works that are necessary to get into heaven. That is why we do babtism for the dead, so that everyone can choose Jesus and accept his atonement

ELLA BARRUS There’s different branches of Christianity, there’s different branches of Islam, and there’s Mormonism. The reason why Mormons aren’t Christians is because, 1) they have a different religious leader apart from the Bible, Joseph Smith, 2) they believe in a different deity apart from Christianity, 3) they have different set of doctrines apart from Christianity, 4) they have a different holy book, the Book of Mormon. Mormon’s aren’t Christians.
