Characters like him and the Terminator are refreshing in this game : they are so wholesome. No biblical threats, no grimacing, no flames or elemental show-off BS... just two guys trying to make sense out of a weird situation so they can achieve victory. It's a nice contrast.

I love everything about Rambo here. Definitely plays more into his character from the first movie then the sequels, and I love how he just straight up admits "yea, I'm scared of you." To Shai Khan before going off to fight him anyways. I wouldn't say he's the 'normal' one per-say, he's still got his beefs and is sticking around to fight, but he's 100% the grounded one here, and that just works so well.

He least belongs there. Even Terminator and Robocop are parts of their sci-fi universes while Rambo is just a human from our real world. So is Johnny Cage but that's why he dies in the movie. It's a sick joke by the authors that an actor takes part in the tournament against gods and demons who can summon lightning, ice and fire or teleport to another dimension. Plus humans like JC, Sonya, Liu Kang etc are also a part of the universe with gods and demons. And... Rambo is... a real human-human. Ok, TBH Mk never made sense, even when I was a kid I was like "wha?! Why would they fist-fight if they can control elements?! BS!"

I think one of the best parts is that he barely reacts in regards to facial expression and voice tone. Like, yeah he’s surprised and confused, but he’s not outwardly questioning anything too much and is pretty much just shrugging his shoulders like, “Welp, guess I’m fighting these machines, Gods and monsters!” Prime example: “Who the hell are you?” “The fire that burns the sun!” “If you say so.”🤷‍♂️

It makes sense for John to act this way. He isn't a robot, he isn't a clown among superheroes, he isn't a godkiller. He's just a human, a tried and true soldier. He's curious about this sort of reality. "Nothing about this place makes sense..." I honestly agree. A lot of its characters became assholes for dumb reasons. Especially Sindel. What the hell happened? I do know a lot of John's reactions are along the lines of "hmm... interesting."

Well, in Scorpion's case, he probably also has a measure of respect for Rambo, especially if he is aware of the sort of feats he has pulled off by himself using only his ingenuity & special forces training to make it out in one piece. Not to mention the fact that Rambo clearly means no disrespect and is just genuinely curious. To someone like Scorpion, meeting someone as straightforward and honest as Rambo is probably a huge breath of fresh air.
