Buddy it’s sad, if you spend that much on a game it shows commitment that you value the game more than your real life.

I commend the devs for putting the cash back into the game. They are not rugpulling. That is comendable. the cash is going into improving the thing. its not for everyone. its not for me but that at least is something they are doing. We live in 2024 where rugpulls are everywhere.

If you are spending that much cash you are doing fine irl unless you are gambleing. Its not for you or me. @@themed7434

@@colinjames4230 What is a nice ship? You get many things for 500 bucks. for 200 you get one of the most powerful ships in firepower directly controlled by the pilot.

​@@colinjames4230 you just play the game and earn credits to buy it. You will lose it on wipes for big updates, I believe and have to earn the credits again, but it's still in alpha I guess. You are also buying insurance on the ships, which means if it gets blown up, it gets restored to you at no cost.

So I will answer by my own preference, IMO the best allrounder starter package would cost 70$ I think it's an origin ship, or you can go for Drake Cutter, around the same price. But my dream ship is either a MISC Prospector for solo mining or MISC Freelancer MAX for cargo hauling, each of them costs around a hundred dollars. But, for the foreseeable future, you might just get the cheapest package and rent them in-game with in-game currency, and grind money on the gameloop that you like. And then you can buy them in-game. It will be wiped clean the next big patch but still nice to have while you can.

The only "required" financial pledge is the initial 45 dollar purchase which gets you one ship, access to the persistent universe, as well as SQ42 upon release. Now, not all ships are always available. They are cycled throughout the year - and the same is said of the ones you can purchase with actual money. There are different events throughout the year where other ships become available and/or are made available at a discount. Certain ships may only be available during certain events. If you don't want to spend any more than your initial purchase, play the game, grind, and earn the credits you need to get the ship you want. But I am here to tell you, there are thousands of hours of fun to be had from that one-time 45 dollar purchase - this is something no other game can brag about. There are also several subscription levels that can be purchased which provide access to more ships without the out of pocket cost on a recurring basis. Also, there are several "free-play" events that happen throughout the year. These events usually last a few days to a week. This provides anyone with capable hardware the ability to try the game free of charge. You can install, create a character, and have a free ship to fly during the event. If you are unsure about whether or not to take the plunge, I recommend waiting for one of these events. The 48,000 dollar thing is a bit of a ruse on behalf of the people mocking it. Yes, obviously its ridiculous. But as someone who has spent about a year with the game so far, I can tell you this is not a game where you are really meant to have a fleet of ships at your disposal. There are many that do....and many of them are content creators. Me personally, I have three ships: my initial pledge ship, a cargo ship, and a fighter ship. At some point I may pickup a mining vessel - not sure yet. Also of note, you can trade in any ship you have purchased towards another ship of equal or greater value.

I backed in 2014. Being sold on the dream was the easy part. Delivering on the promise of a release has been the hard part. It's been a decade. They need to stop making tech demo bullshit and just complete the game mechanics to provide game loops.

Without fail, I’d always get hit after over 150 dodges of lightning due to a combo of cockiness and anxiety lol

@@wasteland6961 yeah, you're completely right, and if a game is not available I have no problem with emulation, is just that I like to own the games if they're available to buy legally, is just that it sucks how Nintendo doesn't give you the option to own the game, is the online or no game at all, that's basically my only complain, I guess a physical purchase is still possible but the lack of options just sucks

I felt the same way. The writing and the callbacks were all I thought I might have to look forward to after all of the crap the game had gotten but once I got to play, each character actually makes their own kind of sense and even when they're not the easiest to control (Deadshot), there's an explanation in the story. It's brighter and set up way differently than the earlier Arkham games but it's clearly part of the series once you play for the first 5 minutes. I can't wait til I get to finish it and explore the rest of Metropolis.

You built a PC to play star citizen. I built one to play modded minecraft, also in 2017. It's wild how two games which such drastically different levels of graphics, elements and fidelity can technically require a custom pc. It's our shared bond as PC gamers :) I also use mine, although I suspect yours is a lot more powerful than mine.

Yeah, my fellow CCU game people know that Legatus is not the way. Last I heard, overall Legatus purchases are just in the double digits. No one else is making a comparable game with the same scope of Star Citizen, so CIG gets my disposable income. Simple as that.

Open and honest about their development? Could you remind us all how many times Star Citizen stated they would not be providing any updates, roadmaps, development blogs, or time frame because they were tired of people getting pissed when they inevitably blew past all of that. I also enjoy the part where Star Citizen amd Squadron 42 were supposed to be one game, now they are two completely different games. But hey, who really wants a company to deliver the product that they promised and received funding for. At least the new office building they made looks fly after spending tens of millions on it.
