In our walk today we take a wander through Cornish mining history, discovering the affect of its boom and bust on the local village of Chacewater.
We start in Wheal Busy, a mining heritage site near Chacewater in Cornwall. We use an old miners track passing through a valley desolated by mining. The track soon becomes a pretty, country lane, tree-lined as it weaves through farmland, eventually arriving in the busy, popular village of Chacewater.
The walk explores the development of the village and touches on some of the church history before following a babbling stream and climb back to Wheal Busy car park.
With an optional detour, uncover a little gem, Wheal Busy Chapel, a bible Christian Chapel built during the boom of mining in the area.

The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on KZfaq, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!
Frequently asked questions:
What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII
How do I find the books you use?
Most are still in print although some we pick up in charity shops and may be available on Amazon secondhand. Please refer to the video for the book titles. Every video shows the book three times. Sorry but we can’t put a link in every description.
Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.
What is your dog’s name?
Sorry but we do not release the name of our dog, perhaps you can make up your own name for him.

A big HELLO from a relatively new subscriber! My partner and I recently moved to Redruth and we have found your videos extremely inspirational to get out and about walking around various areas of Cornwall. We even just attempted this walk today in 25 degree heat. Thank you for all your work you put into your videos, we really appreciate it. All the very best.

"To get back to the village, we're going to use..." Cut to two gorgeous horses. For a fraction of a second, I thought u & Andrew had made prior arrangements to go trotting the cobblestones back to town on horseback! But then there'd be no one to escort poor PupseyWaggles! Oh well, so much for my imagination getting ahead of reality - on with the show! Now, as with "Midsomer Murders," every time we take a stroll I'll be awaiting the pony pair to appear as the camera pans 'cross the village. Giddy-up!

Thank you for a lovely stroll with you through this area. You always find so many beautiful and interesting things where you are walking. I also very much appreciate all the "homework" being done about the historic details. I have actually just ordered a small (foldable) treadmill / walking pad to use at home when the weather is useless for walking. And I will watch your videos on the TV and wear earphones when I use it. Pretending I am in beautiful Cornwall having an adventure walk there :-) Have a lovely weekend. Torunn :)

I remember when the old Post Office was a sweet little antique shop in the 1990s. I find it quite amusing that these TV filmers want the old, traditional cottages in their programmes. They never use a bungalow or modern house, which is far more common now in Cornwall.

Oh Sarah! Love a bit of Wycliffe! Had them all on video tape back in the day!! Been re watching them on one of the channels recently too! The last one they made was filmed at Gunwalloe, standing in for Lands End! Must dig out the one with the cottage you visited. What an interesting historical walk. I like that you make your own walks up....it's like watching along with two friends now every week (well, three if you include your fab doggy!). The flowers are beautiful along the waysides, and such a peaceful place to walk around. I hear Andrew was on form! He and my other half should form a duo...Tim Vine eat your heart out! x J x

Now a duo with your other half I would like to see! I think we will be including a few Wycliffe filming locations, having recently watched them all, back to back virtually! Really strange when they hop around in an episode and pretend its just down the road! Sarah :)

A great walk, I like the way you pick the not so well known places. The wild flowers in June are outstanding, the wild gladioli, the wild lavatera,, (tree mallow) and the Lizard is full of the pink daisy type succulent flowing down the cliff, it's nice back up here, but not a patch on Cornwall !! I bought my Mom the Wycliffe box set for Christmas ! 🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟👍
@CornishWalkingTrails
@CornishWalkingTrails 3 жыл бұрын
Ahh, the flower at the Lizard is the Hottentot Fig, imported from South Africa. It thrives here to the detriment of other native species so the Trust keeps it in check. Such a conundrum as the flowers are spectacular! Oh and I think there may be some other Wycliffe filming locations cropping up occasionally! Sarah :)

Definitely a 10/10 ~ wow!...that's just lifted my whole week, and left me in the Pink(y) & (rather) Perky! The Victorian Wheal Busy Bible Christian Chapel just has to be the sweetest and most perfect chapel on the planet! The Nonconformists often built in that lovely symmetrical (meeting) house style (I used to be a Congregationalist...probably still am at heart). I too am a huge fan of Wycliffe, and have been watching the re-run of the series x

Yes, I will give you ten out Of ten. This was a very interesting walk. So much history to it, and although the churches Are closed God is still very much alive, and all of us need to put our trust in Jesus His son who died on a cross for our sins. Read John 3v16 in the Bible. And put your trust in Jesus. God Bless
