My Late Husband was in horrendous pain on his deathbed and refused anymore pain medication so he could be lucid... He was desperately trying to hold on until after midnight before he would let go... He didn’t want to die on my birthday, he thought l would always be sad, on my special day. I miss him desperately every day. (We were together 37 years.)

This was beautiful. I sometimes see my husband at a party or crowded place, watching me and when caught he just smiles. It makes my heart sing. When we met at a outdoor concert, we talked and then we separated, I was in a line later and I felt someone watching me, I turned around and it was him again, I said what are you doing and he said checking you out, I said well don't stand over there, come over here and do that. It is suffice to say that we were both immediately pretty blown away by each other as 38 years later and we are still together!

So true, love comes in different ways and I think also short relationships/friendships are meaningfull, even the ones which would be described as superficial, because they are shared moments in life, shared steps on your way of beeing your self. So I think the "goal" is not to have a long lasting relationship but to take responsability...which may include seperation. I wish you all the best :)

‘Perfect acceptance of an imperfect person.’ That one really got me. I got in a slight argument with my SO yesterday because he called me perfect and it upset me. I am by no means perfect. And he told me that perfection is in the eye of the beholder. I did not understand. I do now.

your significant other is right...it is in the eye of the beholder...it's like that old saying goes...to the world you may be one person...but to one person you may be the world...if a person truly loves you...they accept you flaws and all but you know what...they don't hold your flaws against you...they accept that they are just part of what makes you you...and to that right person it makes you even more wonderful...the other part of getting it right is just what several people said in the video...you really do want to end up with your best friend...someone you can talk to about anything and everything...some people get lucky early on and find it...others...it takes awhile longer...sound like you got yourself a good one. :)

@@kaoutermouslimhaliba7145 I can relate to that. It somehow can cause pressure on you because you do not want to lose this status of perfection and thus love of your partner. Something like that actually ruined one of my relationships. Now I know the reason behind that was that I didn't really trust this person I guess and had problems of just letting myself go. I jumped out of a cake in a playboy bunny outfit in 1973 at a retirement party. Fell in love instantly with a guest. Dated a little bit and went our separate ways. Did not see or hear from him for 30 years he moved out of state. In 2004 reconnected and have been together for 17 years. We are both 74 and madly in love. He's my best friend and my heart still beats faster when I hear his truck pulling up in the driveway. He promised me that he would die before me because I can't imagine my life without him.

This video reminds me so much of my grandparents. They were married for almost 75 years before grandpa passed away last year. They were such a wholesome couple and it set the high standard for my family :) Mom and dad celebrated their 30th anniversary of marriage two weeks ago and they still laugh and mess with each other like teenagers. I really hope that they'll continue like this for a lot of years.

I miss my sweet man so very much! Its been 15 months and the pain never leaves...This video montage was both sweet and bitter. It reminds me of what I have lost and no longer have but also what I had and valued above all other things, a good dear man.... 44 yrs wasn't enough, but it was all we had. AT the end he was no longer conscious but I kept telling him how much I love him and it was OK to leave. I'd be OK. Value every single moment of life, there are no promises that you will get more.

3:57 That one hit me hard. When I was in the hospital, my man also visited me outside my window since he wasn`t allowed inside. I couldn`t believe this guy, can`t think of anyone of my exes who would have done that(or me for them, for that matter). Same guy did my toenails between surgeries, when i couldn`t paint them on my own. This one is definately a keeper :) But... When my sister was getting chemo treatment (unfortunately passed 2 years ago), she would have loved for her husband to be there for her. He wasn`t, he had better things to do, like watch soccer with his buddies. I found true love a little before turning 40. Happy I waited and found the one perfect person for me.. and also am sad my sister didn`t. Instead, she married that moron because "What will people think, if one day im 30 and still not married, no kids". I guess what im trying to say is: Don`t just settle down, find the one who really loves you, appreciates you and would go lengths to make you happy.... and gets your humor, important that one. And vice versa. Accept, respect and cherish eachother. In my humble opinion, only then will you be happy.

It's lovely to see some stories of happy couples with so much bad news in the media. My boyfriend and I have been together over 4 years so far, since he was 15 and I was 16. I hope we manage as many years as some of these people.

The couple that I truly looked up to was my grandmother and her second jusband. When they married, they were both around 80 years old. A few years after they married, my step-grandfather got dement, and my grandma kept being there for him, till he died, almost 3 years ago. Sometimes, my grandma tells me about how beautiful and simple their love was. They never bought something for each other, and their love wasn't material. But every morning, when my grandma took her breakfast, he had decorated the table with little things made out of paper, and sweet messages. she always referates to a song 'quand on a que l'amour' of Jacques Brel (when you only have love) as how to sum up their story. and I think it's pretty beautiful.

The couple, which read “I married my best friend, today” - and was a smaller gentleman, in a wheelchair; marrying his absolutely stunning wife? That’s Shane and Hannah! They have a KZfaq channel, called “Squirmy and Grubs.” They are two of the more delightful people and one of the most wonderful couples, on the planet. The shenanigans of Shane’s Hannah has to put up with, is absolutely hilarious. *(I would put the link, to their channel; though, this video made me cry and now it’s difficult to type, with my screen damp, lol).

My husband and I have been together 21 years, 15 of them married. Get married to your best friend because after time when things settle down, you need someone who you can have fun with, binge watch TV, have pigout days and someone who you can love you even when you’re sick and just gross.

Oooh, this made me tear up a little. How many beautiful couples! Really liked the Japanese couple who dress alike, the punk couple, the Woodstock couples but the ones that did it for me were the wife with final stages of early onset dementia who knows she's safe, the gentleman feeding his wife ice cream in torrid heat and the gentleman who learned to do his wife's make up before she went blind. My husband of 31 years has made me a cup of tea about twice and never remembers christmas, birthdays or our anniversary. Hmmmm 😳

My husband and I are 58 and 61 (me the younger). We've been together only 9 years but we both tell each other it's like we've been together for 50 years since we feel like we've known each other that long. We're such kids at heart and joke and laugh all the time, have never had a major fight, just little spats here n there over trivial crap, and he always tells me each wrinkle I have has come from an awesome joke I've told him. He always tells me I'm so gorgeous. I may have found someone late in life, but sure glad I did since I didn't realize love was such an incredible feeling. I put it off all my life, putting my career first and figuring I wasn't missing anything too much by not having a man in my life. I had a full life, or so I thought, but it's beyond that and so much more now

Must be nice to experience this true love. Treating each other like best friend, genuinely loving each other and growing old with them. Nowadays its rare to find these kind of lovers, coz most people in this generation just want to have relationship for the sake of sex and/or money, no purpose, no goals, no meaning, just treating others like toys..

Her: "You got a damn bathroom in this place?" Me: "Well, I usually just go piss in the alley." Those were the first words spoken between my wife and I. That was in 1979 and needless to say, we didn't hit it off too well. Neither of us spoke to one another again until my boss and the woman she was with that day set us up on a blind date the following week. We ended up getting married in May of 1980. Last year, I found a plaque that describes us perfectly. "The perfect marriage is when two imperfect people refuse to give up on each other." Now, after good times and bad times, sad times and happy times, and numerous hard times, we are both retired and living on our homestead out in the country. Our secret? Before we got married, we made a pact (since both of us had been married before). There would be no divorce this time. However, there may be a killin.
