One thing I do when splicing wires is to stager the length of each join so none are at same position. When you do a few wires you will find with all the joins in the same position you tend to get a bulge but another bonus of staggering the joins is that if you have a short in one of the joins it will be at the insulation of the other wires so you have double the protection

@@Camhin1 People judge each other over all sorts of things all the time. You judged me for not liking Apple. What you buy sends messages about how you are whether you like it or not. Sure it's generalising but it's the same as making assumptions about Commodores or Falcons, not everyone who drives one is a hoon but most people would agree it's a reasonable generalisation to make.

Thanks for the info. I installed both last Friday and what a difference!!! I have been using an FM receiver for hands-free and Bluetooth audio. Usually had to have volume at 20, now have it at 6 or 7 for same volume but with much better clarity. I also opted for the module with microphone so that I still have hands-free. Love the videos! Keep up the Great work. BTW I drive 03 XR8 sedan.

I took a different approach and simply used an old JVC head unit with USB and BT etc and fed the pre-amp outputs directly into the Aux input. I already had a Garmin GPS with BT that works with my phone for handsfree etc so my main need was USB music. The JVC has an Aux input as well so those with 3.5mm jacks are catered for as well. I used the generally available Aerpro Falcon BA/BF lower dash mounting kit - Repco $43 on sale The combo works brilliantly and you can use the JVC volume control to match the FM channel volume etc. Steering controls works as usual . The JVC just appears as Aux and runs whenever the car is running.

Your bluetooth setup is better than factory setups of cars I've driven. Bluetooth on both 2016 Ford Falcon and 2013 Chrysler 300 I have had to turn the audio up quite high compared to CD and radio. Particularly annoying is when I switch back to radio or CD I sometimes forget to turn the volume down beforehand and so as a consequence my ears get blasted!

If you're like me and like bluetooth but are lazier, McDodo have a USB-A to DC 3.5mm Bluetooth to Aux adapter. It's basically a USB stick on one end, with an Aux cable coming out of it. The USB part is a bluetooth receiver, and is powered via the USB port, and the bluetooth signal is then sent through the Aux. Because of the location of the final Aux port in the Falcon/Territory, it's right by the cigarette lighter, so having a lighter USB charger is perfect; just plug the McDodo in and you've powered bluetooth!

Bluebus has been developed to do what this thing here does and more. Can even set the car to do that cool indicator trick new cars have. Great video! The ASL box is just a amplifier, it does not remove noise (feedback WTF? 3:17) the engine noise might still be there if you turn off your phone and turn up the ICC volume. The ASL + Btooth boxes $150 plus freight. The Ford unit amplifier has only with 3.5mm input was $150 in 2007 google "BAF289455BA" now $75 I put a ford unit in my BA Futura sedan worked great no engine noise at all, then moved it to a BAMKII Fairmont Ghia really bad engine noise. I believe from searching forums that the problem is bad earthing/ grounding thru the car. Some people reported that re-seating plugs under the dash and ICC helped solve the problem. I sold the Fairmont and put the unit back input the Futura all ok. Even cheaper solution is $24 from jaycar (AR3140 google "jaycar blue tooth car" this one gives you phone connectivity and USB ports +more, it uses the FM radio to receive the audio!

If you’re gunning for true hands free calls, the Bluetooth kit from an SY2 Territory hooks right up and can also handle streaming as well. B Series Falcons sadly never had audiophiles in mind with even their “Premium Sound” radios- the amplifier was woeful and the cost-over-quality paper speakers were miserable. You really had to do a DSP or tack on an aftermarket source into the tissue box for acceptable sound.

I have the regular hardwired adaptor in one of my BF's (or I did until a mechanic jammed the wires and connector up behind the centre console when he replaced it after trying to fix a gearbox issue). Yes, I have to turn the sound way up, but I have found that, oddly, the alternator whine is only present when my partner plugs her Samsung in. When my Sony is plugged in there's no whine.

If I’m going to use an aftermarket amp, I imagine I could adjust the gain on that to make up for the low signal from the Bluetooth?
@MotoringBoxTV
@MotoringBoxTV Ай бұрын
Just bear in mind that'll adjust the gain across everything. So if the Bluetooth signal is a lot lower than the radio or CD, that volume difference will still exist.

How does the bass sound with the ASL adapter on Bluetooth? I’ve noticed in my BA when using the aux cable the bass is almost completely gone, but when on radio it’s very prominent. Thanks very much for this video!
@MotoringBoxTV
@MotoringBoxTV 2 жыл бұрын
It's the same for me both ways. I can't recall off the top of my head, but do double check if the LOUD and Bass/Treble settings carry across from FM to AUX, or whether the head unit remembers unique settings for each. I could be talking shit here, but there's something in the back of my head telling me that. Worth checking anyway.

@@MotoringBoxTV ah yes! Great recommendation thanks, I’ll check that tomorrow. It’s a good sign that your bass is good thru both so I reckon you’re onto it. Pro Tip: i totally avoided the issue of AUX/ Bluetooth connections by shoehorning in a GT500 engine & box in my 7 month old BF XR8 and listening to neighing horses instead. Also: if you add an extra earth strap to the engine (also replace the crappy braided engine earth strap), and another to the gearbox, that engine electrical noise is basically cancelled out. Use quality welding cable, and some brand name ends for mounting.

I don't know anything about B series falcons but I'm amused at the fact they had an aux port that was never used, I gather that there must have been a premium sound stereo that uses the aux port. Doesn't seem like a normal thing Ford would do to just give you unused wires that are otherwise connected, I'm used to having to add all the wiring from a higher spec model to a base model to get anything working in the dash hence why I love my fairlanes.
