I bought a RLX 2014 Elite (canada) and i bought a Mercedes 550 Cls for my wife the month.Let me tell you something: I prefer 100 time more the Rlx than the Mercedes.after 1 year went to the dealer 4 times with the Mercedes ( electronic problems ) and none with the Acura .Even my wife prefer to drive the RLX Before I had a Acura RL 2010 for 62000 miles and never had a problem .For the body about 13 peoples told me :This a beautifull car ( People that I don t even know ). the car has a 6 speed automatic, not an 8 speed

8-speed automatic? And you call this your long term road test, what a joke.

As always the case, if the TL outsold the RL, then the TLX will outsell the RLX. The RLX also needs to upgrade to the 9 speed automatic transmission with push-button shifting, along with upgraded features, especially in the rear seats.

call me old school but I miss the Legend. I know its "supposedly" the same car but just doesn't have the sexy looks like they did in the 90s. Acura has fallen so far IMO to now dull boxes. The 2000's really hurt Honda bad in general killing off any fun car they made and turning once nice looking 4 door models into dull econo boxes. Oh well, at least we have choices, so many other good designs out there.

I miss the 2nd generation Acura Legends of the early 90s, especially the coupe. Acuras were so cool back then. The overall reliability is still there but now, the styling is so boring and generic. They should have added some style and sexiness when they designed the RLX. In my opinion, if I was in charge of styling, I would have given the RLX flashier, rounded, coupe-like styling similar to the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi A7, Volkswagen CC and even the current Toyota Avalon.

No sir you aren't the only one. I miss the days when Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura were fiercely competing with eachother. I used to be able to cross shop an Acura MDX, Lexus RX, and Infiniti QX4 and have trouble deciding between the 3. These days Lexus has moved onto bigger and better things like Mercedes and BMW while Acura and Infiniti linger in the dust. Infiniti even has an uncertain future as there were rumors that Carlos Ghosn was debating on killing the division. Infiniti once had a great LS fighting flagship known as the Q45. I to this day can't wrap my head around why Nissan decided to axe it.

The 90's Legend was a very handsome design. One reason it looked so good was the RWD-like proportions. Look at the side profile and notice how far forward the front wheels are. In contrast, the RLX looks like an upscale Accord with its front wheels so close to the front door (resulting in big front overhang).

Found one with 30k miles in low 20s. I was like it is cheap enough and I don't care how ugly it is. I test drove it for a few miles and couldn't wait to give it back to the dealer. The suspension is so soft and floaty. Lots of up and down motion. Steering is too light and has zero feedback. No wonder it is that cheap.

Those headlights might be different than anything on the market, but they are so ugly. Looks like an eye of a fly or some ugly insect. And $49K base price for this car? I don't understand how acura can go down the drain this fast from a decade ago.

Cars shouldn't need premium fuel stop it with that BS. HIDs or LED should be standard on all vehicles by now..

is there a more bland looking automobile than this marque?

I agree. Acura used to be so cool from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. The second generation Acura Legend, especially the coupe will always be one of my favorites. Sadly now, Acura is so generic. It just isn't exciting anymore.
