Agree. The top teams used to use the League Cup to blood young players, now this obsession with winning every game means the youth barely get a chance until they're thrust into the mix when we need a late winner in the league.

It only works when you need a Clamp. He is not nearly as two footed as Dalot to actually play LB... You need someone to just not have any joy with the ball and need someone up their ass? AwB is your man, you need someone to play out of position at LB? Dalot all day, he has about a whole season more of experience at LB than AwB

Dalot played LB against Sheffield. And against Chelsea. And I assume he will again today. When Garnacho plays on the left in Rashford's absence ETH switches Dalot to left-back because Garnacho isn't as good as Rashford defensively, and AWB isn't as good defensively as Dalot, so you don't want Garnacho and AWB on the same side.

I prefer him at LB if that means Dalot can play RB. Dalot at least will take the ball into the space down the right, AWB plays RB like he's on the wrong side anyway.

It's because Dalot has been really effective on the right going forward, adequate on the left. Whereas AWB has been less than adequate going for on the right going forward, and less than adequate both forwards and backwards. So it made sense to try to have one positive avenue of attack from a full back and hopefully the other stays solid, rather than both being affected.

@@alexmeechan9701I think it really comes down to ten Hag not wanting to coach the midfield and attacking players into playing a counter attack park the bus style just because that's the only thing the remaining defence can do. Most of that defence will get replaced in summer, so I think he's trying to slog through it for now with a view to rebuild after the years of damage. The Glazers have run Man Utd into the ground for almost two decades. Nobody can turn that into a Champions League contender in just two seasons.

this is the problem with people who only looka t stats, (or particular stats), it's obvious to anybody that Garnacho is having a better season than Rashford. But their goals, minutes and assists are similar. So people are actually making the argument their seasons are similar. It's insane. watch the actual games It's like when people were saying Maguire's pass completion is one of the best in the last few seasons. Watch the games, he passes 5 yards to his left or right, of course the stats will be good.

I think we all understand we havent had our best defence all season. What we struggle to undrstand is why ten hag insists on playing a style of football that consistently leaves 40 yard gaps between them and the rest of the team. If the defence has been weakened so much, adapt the bloody formation and tactics!

And why do we lack 7 out of 8 defenders? Why do we have all these injuries? The players played a lot of games last season including pre season. The manager and the medical team has to take that into account when planning training lessons and how much the players can handle physically. They are humans, not robots.

I have to agree anyone saying other teams have had injuries too just aren’t being realistic about the volume of injuries united have compared to the rest of the league. If there was a trophy or award for most injuries we would be as far ahead of everyone else as city was when we came second last but they were like 20 points ahead to win the league still.

I think the difference between Maguire and Rashford and the reason people get annoyed at channels like this and Howson's etc is that Maguire's effort was never in doubt, it's his quality. Rashford doesn't try on the pitch and these channels ignore that and call it a drop in form. It's a drop in effort and it's not the first time
