MOUNT TIMPANOGOS WILDERNESS MOST GORGEOUS VIEWS: SUMMITING ROBERTS HORN VIA ASPEN GROVE CAMPGROUND

Roberts Horn is a peak in the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area in Utah's Wasatch Mountain Range. Besides summiting Mount Timpanogos itself, Roberts Horn is the best hike in the Timpanogos Wilderness Area. Roberts Horn sits below the Timpanogos ridge line and also gazes down to Emerald Lake and the Timpanogos basin. A herd of mountain goat are frequently seen in the basin area. Roberts Horn is a sub-peak of Mount Timpanogos that is not too difficult to access. The views along the way are spectacular in all directions. At the summit of Roberts Horn the Aspen Grove campground area can be seen along with Little Cottonwood Canyon to the north. The trail can be very busy and for good reason!

"The shack of Timpanogos" reminds me of the Ice Wall in Game of Thrones that the Night's Watch guards. MASSIVE! tilt your head all the way back to look up at it. Awesome video..... per usual..

Looks like an amazing hike! I've done this trail up to the hut on my way to Mt. Timpanogos but had to turn around due to some health issues. I've got to try Robert's Horn though. Looks challenging but sure fun! Thanks for sharing! Absolutely a fabulous video!!

Thanks so much! The original plan was to go for Timp but my bros were fried from the two previous big days of hiking and climbing. They have worse old man knees than me 😉🤣. Roberts Horn wasn't difficult just a long beautiful day in the alpine!

When is the best time to hike Mount Timpanogos?

Depends on the amount of snow the wasatch range got during the winter. We hiked the wasatch in early June and there was feet of snow in the alpine. We hiked Roberts Horn the end of June last year and there was none. I’ve seen videos of Emerald Lake (Timp wilderness) still frozen in July. September is a good month because the temps won’t be as hot but the vegetation will be burnt out from the summer heat. October will bring incredible foliage. I think the best time would be mid July - early August as the wildflowers should be in peak season. But again, that all depends on how much snow is up high and how hot the spring/summer is. It’s unbelievably gorgeous no matter what season though 😁👍🏼.

Can you camp overnight on all of these hikes in Utah?

I'm pretty sure you don't need overnight permits or anything for camping in the Wasatch range. It's been a few years now since we've been there but I think that is the case. I do remember seeing a couple tents here and there along the trails.
