This film follows Ford rally driver Vic Elford from his "day job" in insurance through his preparation and participation in the 1964 Alpine Rally. Alongside co-driver David Stone, we see Elford triumph in the touring category in his Cortina GT.

Minute 15:00 i had a 1964 DS 19 Citroen in 1971. French blue and white top. Drove it from San Diego Banf, Jasper Canada. Broke in Kamloops. Low pressure regulator. I love Citroen

Works rally cars seemed very standard back in the day, great footage, Vic Elford was such a talent, got fed up with Lotus Corrina's failing,so signed with Porsche

The days when an amateur could enter an international rally and, with a bit of luck, had a realistic chance of a good class placing or win. Oh how times have changed.

Great footage of these terrific cars doing proper rallying! Always loved the Mk1 Cortina, had a couple of them in the late ‘60’s & early ‘70’s... one was an automatic estate which was a fantastic car that never let me down!

I love these British/Euro Ford Rally cars. Performance at it's best, it wasn't a drag race or super speedway..it was actual durability of the car and drivers as a team! Not alot separating you from your competition except for your driving, co driver, built car..and skill... Rally racing actually looks like it once was something anyone could do... Today if you ain't got a tech heavy expensive computer designed chassis...your not even close to what is Rallying today.. The world needs the common man rally again

Great footage. Compare to rallying today. No helmets, no seat belts, no roll cage, a dirt road with no barrier to a 1000 ft drop, and skinny bias ply tires. What could possibly go wrong?

@@dianrendra06 Actually, now that I look more closely, it appears they have shoulder harnesses. Look at 2:31. And if you look at 6.33 he appears to be doing up a four point harness.
