CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Max (Mel Gibson) drives the tanker with Wez (Vernon Wells) and the gang in violent pursuit.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director George Miller's follow-up to his own 1979 hit Mad Max is proof that not all sequels are inferior to their originals. If anything, this brutal sci-fi action film is even more intense and exciting than its predecessor, although the state of its post-apocalyptic world has only become worse. Several years after the deaths of his wife and child, Max (Mel Gibson) has become an alienated nomad, wandering an Australian outback that has fallen into tribal warfare conducted from scattered armed camps. After a road battle with psychotic villain Wez (Vernon Wells), Max meets up with the odd Gyro Captain (Bruce Spence), who takes him to the camp of a sympathetic group led by Pappagallo (Mike Preston). As Pappagallo's people are camped at a refinery, Max plans to take their oil -- more precious than gold in this world -- but eventually joins them to fight a band of marauders led by the evil Humungus (Kjell Nilsson). The stunning climax features a heart-pounding chase scene involving an oil tanker-truck and a frenzied rush for the coast, with Humungus and his forces in hot pursuit. Nilsson is a scary villain, with huge muscles and a sinister pre-Jason hockey mask, but the stunt work is the key here, and it is more flamboyantly dynamic than ever, edited at breakneck pace and staged with manic fury by Miller and stunt coordinator Max Aspin. Savage and kinetic, Mad Max 2 is a must-see for action buffs.

Saw this in packed theater during first week. Two things I remember most about the audience reaction: 1. the cheers that erupted when Max came out leveling the shot gun. 2. The parking lot after movie was over and everyone was leaving, all amped up form the movie, yelling out their windows, screeching tires, driving faster than normal to leave the mall lot.

I used to own a 12 gauge double barrel stagecoach with exterior hammers (beautiful). I wanted to modify it to the exact dimensions of a Howdah pistol which is roughly the same size as the gun Max used in the movie. It is possible to own such a gun but you must submit a form with the DOJ and acquire a permit plus a $200 fee. Unfortunately for me I live in California and it is not permissible to own such a gun in the "Sunshine State." Big long raspberry and finger gesture to the CA politicians.

When you watch this clip on KZfaq it's alright. But the effect is 10 times better when watching the whole movie, seeing him constantly threaten people with the Shotgun but never using it makes the audience annoyed, and anxious to see if it fires. Then right at the end of the movie, when the old mechanic is thrown of the truck, the music swells and then Max fires. Then everyone goes apeshit! Best scene of the movie

George Miller described the whole experience as "guerrilla filmmaking", where the crew would close roads without filming permits, not use walkie-talkies because their frequency coincided with the police radio, and after filming was done Miller and Byron Kennedy would even sweep down the roads. Still, as filming progressed the Victoria Police became interested in the production, helping the crew by closing down roads and escorting the vehicles.

Saw a XB Ford GT Coupe in stunning condition today. Glossy black like the interceptor. So good that they are respected now. My brother had one that he actually let go over a cliff because it cost "too much to run". Would be worth so much today!

the Sententious Vaunter Yeah, it never did, did it? I enjoyed the new movie because it was exactly what I paid to see - an hour and a half long tractor-trailer chase ala the end of The Road Warrior. But now that I've seen it, nothing really stayed with me. I think there are two reasons. The original was very raw and real. Real stuntmen, not over-produced CGI. Second, the chase from The Road Warrior was certainly the aria and it's easy to make the mistake of wanting more. But you have to sit through the tedium to make you appreciate the aria. The story was lacking and no amount of hyper-produced effects could create a lasting image.

in these movies they killed heroes at will, with no dramatic wind up... one moment 2 of your favorite characters are fighting, the next theyre both dragged under the wheels of the same car as if they were nothing... i remember that most about this movie, how suddenly they died

It's because movies were filmed differently back then. Now directors use shaky cams and CGI to film their scenes. Cameras back then filmed the action without it shaking and zipping to new scenes and shots like movies do now. You SAW the action, movies today make action scenes less drawn out and faster paced. That's why it seems so slow compared to films nowadays.
