CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Regina (Rachel McAdams) and Cady (Lindsay Lohan) have a blow-out in front of school which ends disastrously for Regina.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tina Fey from Saturday Night Live wrote and appears in this comedy about the alternately funny and terrifying pecking order among teenage girls. Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) is a 15-year-old girl who has spent most of her life in Africa, where she was home-schooled by her zoologist parents. When her family relocates to the United States, Cady finds herself attending a high school in suburban Illinois, where she gets a crash course in the various sub-strata of the student body: the jocks, the cheerleaders, the stoners, the "cool" kids, and so on. Much to her surprise, Cady finds herself embraced by a clique of rich and popular girls known to outsiders as "the Plastics," led by Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Gretchen Weiners (Lacey Chabert), and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried). While Cady is grateful for her new friends, it doesn't take long for her to realize how manipulative they can be, and she soon discovers she's violated an unwritten law when she goes out on a date with Aaron (Jonathan Bennett), who is charming, good looking...and Regina's former boyfriend. It isn't long before Regina and her pals are on the warpath, and Cady must face a level of vengeful behavior for which years in the jungle never prepared her. Joining Tina Fey in the supporting cast are fellow SNL players Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, and Tim Meadows. The screenplay for Mean Girls was based in part on Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends and Other Realities of Adolescence, a book by professional youth counselor Rosalind Wiseman.

In my opinion, this movie has a strong message about toxic relationships, about people pleasers and losing yourself to make someone else happy. Cady lost herself trying to make both Regina AND Janis like her at the same time, and she thought that she had to make sure everybody liked her. When she realised she wanted out of this vicious cycle, apologized and revealed who she really wanted to be friends with she found peace and, most importantly, HERSELF.

Exactly. We see this so many times with how Regina treated her other friends too, ESPECIALLY Gretchen. Gretchen knows Regina treats her badly, but sticks with her because her self esteem has been completely sapped and she needs to be in the service of a queen bee to feel wanted. And at the end she possibly got the worst fate - she’s still a very insecure person and is now in the service of Trang Pak, repeating the cycle all over again.

This scene alone shows that Janis was never Cady’s friend. She basically used Cady to try to get her revenge against Regina and got bitter that Cady became popular once she overthrew Regina because she wanted her ‘revenge’. There’s a reason why nobody sympathizes with you in the end Janis.

I think the reason they praised Janis was because she stood up to Regina when no one had ever done that. Cady effectively became a second rate version of Regina and took a long time to own up to her part in the entire mess. I will agree Janis and Regina are the ones primarily responsible for what occurred, and Cady was collateral damage.

Regina getting ran over by that school bus is without a doubt a very karmic and satisfying scene considering that this is what she gets for being a cruel and heartless mean girl who showed no remorse for her bad behavior. Add to the fact that everyone at the school witnessed her getting ran over makes this scene even more iconic and unforgettable.

I just noticed how in the beginning of the movie, Regina dressed mostly on mini skirts and light coloured blouses, (pink the most) would leave hair down, but later then she would dress on jeans and darker clothing and her hair tied down, sorta like Cady's original look. Loved that look more.

Just for the people defending Janice in the comments. There was one point in the movie where Cady said she no longer wanted to spy on Regina, but Janice insisted that Cady stick around with The Plastics. Obviously what I guess Janice didn’t realize that more Cady hung around the plastics the more she would pick up their traits and ways.
