I heard about this from a convention. There was a panel of high schooled kids that answered questions and two of the kids mentioned this book and how much they were happy that their parents chose this book for them. Thanks for this reminder as I have an uprising 9th grader and I need to consider this for him.

I have one who doesn't have to take the course and still loves doing this for fun. She comes up with great topics of discussion for each movie. She's looking forward to doing Birtish Literature as Movies this fall that we're building based off ideas from this book.

Thanks so much for this! Would you say this book gives instruction enough to help a reluctant writer along (who hasn't had much essay writing before) or should they do a writing course first?

A short essay writing class would probably help, or you could switch to one movie per month and take the course slower.

We love our guidance counsellor from our umbrella school!!! She’s awesome!!! I love this fun idea to use movies!!! We are thinking of using the hobbit and we didn’t think of using the movies!!!

I used this course with my oldest, now 21, for one of her English credits (who is a visual learner) and she loved it!

It has been a great resource for my visual learner 9th grader. We're looking forward to doing British literature this fall.

You use what you learn from the first book as a springboard to move on to different topics. The book is an all-in-one teacher and student book. If you can't afford it, there are free packets that do the same. I mention on in the British Movies as Literature video.
