Do sometimes say more than you need to, but you also provide a lot of sensible and good advice. There are plenty of nuggets of gold within the piles of shit you spout and that is why hi stay subscribed to your channel. 😂😂😂

I have just managed to pick up a pair of preowned AGD gran vivace monoblocks for £9k! Totally ecstatic with the purchase, never thought I would be able to own a pair… If only I could find a P owned MPD8…

I think with the pricing discussion, all that can go out the window if relationships are developed. Buying anonymously on line ruins a lot of the ability to understand value. Is a product worth the price or not. It takes conversation and trust to determine that.

Absolutely 💯 %. I declined a $5500 sale earlier today because the guy declined my repeated requests for a phone call. I won't sell to your ass if I don't trust you..

So what do you think of speaker companies that are direct marketed like Arendal? Do they represent a great value per dollar for the sound and build quality?
@OCDHIFiGuy
@OCDHIFiGuy 7 күн бұрын
Totally depends on the company. The concept is that you get a better value. But it's not always that way.

When you did the FF tour was hoping to see all the speakers side-by-side to get size comparison. My room is small but I want a tower, 9.2” wide ( to 11’ in back of room) 15’ L and 6’10” T. Also I saw this in a FF brochure “Cabinet design: Low-resonance natural slate cabinet (SN), polished and varnished (SL) if required and available in any RAL colour.” So my question, do these speakers come in colors?
@OCDHIFiGuy

Just call me to match the model to your room, and yes, any color you want. But that's like painting Mahogany wood.. lol

To answer my question about what material TAD speaker boxes are made of: They are a mixture of MDF panels with birth wood bracing, a technology TAD calls "Silent-Structurally Inert Laminated Enclosure Technology"

Mikey you eluded to something that is going to change the audio industry in a big way, would that happen to be the technology that's in Mark Levinson's amps, the Mighty CAT chip and C Wave technology?
@OCDHIFiGuy

No.
@gme10955

@@OCDHIFiGuy I thought for sure because you previously mentioned that eventually the industry would be adopting this technology. If this isn't what you were eluding to, it must be something that's extra super duper special on the horizon.

I signed off the livestream at the 75-min mark, as I thought Mikey made his presentation about value utterly clear at that point. Then I found that the trolls and idiots simply couldn’t get enough of triggering Mikey and needlessly prolonged the livestream.

Mikey, You lost me a bit here. Isn’t value in hi-fi ultimately about some form of the formula Price [divided by] Sound and that’s it? I understand the value of supporting family/entrepreneur-run, craft-centric businesses and not supporting China as special cases that perhaps should affect one’s buying behavior but what have these things or a company’s discounting strategy, operating costs, corporate structure, cost of goods, materials quality and uniqueness or any of that have to do with the value formula noted above? There is no connection that I can see. Now, I do agree with you that there are a lot of terrible reasons that buyers talk themselves into paying a lot more for a given level of sound than they have to. And that’s where what you’re doing is so helpful.
@kristofvadnai7468

I think you're misunderstanding him. He doesn't say that value comes from the fact that something is for example family made, but by the fact that it's made to sound phenomenal at a low cost and you're not paying for an overinflated company. I also strive for these kind of products, that are made with heart and not for marketing.
@a.s.2426
@a.s.2426 18 күн бұрын
Understood. My point is in terms of sound/dollar none of those other factors matter, by definition. They are extraneous to this logic even if meaningful in other ways. My takeaway: Excellent value speakers can come from any type of company no matter if they’re Chinese-owned or made or larger corporates which strive to maximize every last ounce of profit and use questionable discounting strategies. One could argue Borresen is one such company but they still produce an excellent value for the dollar in some of their offerings. I don’t necessarily prefer these companies either but let’s not conflate issues is what I’m saying.
@a.s.2426
@a.s.2426 18 күн бұрын
In regards to “ you're not paying for an overinflated company” you’re paying what you’re paying. Compare that to the sound you’re getting. That’s it for value. Doesn’t matter if part of that goes to the CEO’s Ferrari.
@OCDHIFiGuy

So are your speakers a better value when you are high or drunk ? Yes they are. Why do you think dealers serve wine ? My point is that perception is irrelevant. There is either a value based on the physical build or there's not. It's a mathematical equation. Your perception of value is something else. This is where we roast you..
@a.s.2426
@a.s.2426 17 күн бұрын
@OCDHIFiGuy There’s nothing to roast. You simply have multiple definitions of “value” going simultaneously. In logic this leads to something known as equivocation - which is what occurred in this video. Sure, there can be a definition of “value” in terms of build quality. Entirely valid. But I’d argue it’s relatively unimportant in relation to the price/sound equation. I’m buying a tool to make sound not gold jewelry to be melted down and sold off as a commodity metal. Interestingly, you’ve said the same on many occasions.

Mikey I'd rather have a $100K that I can spend on the products you believe in and align with my views and I would feel good about than $1 million on a typical show system bought by multimillionaire assholes.

SO IF SOMEONE WORK HARD AND EARN MILLIONS, HE IS AN ASS HOLE???? grow up and get a life… you obviously dont have expensive system, but you have public frustrations…… now learn: system of my friend costs 1.700.000euros….. do you know what he does for living - heart surgeon , he works 12 hours a day, saving lives….. he is beside his medical career is studio musician with his own big studio, and he know everything abut high end audio…… who are you?? some irrelevant arrogant frustrated guy without life……. work on yourself, maybe one day you will have 500$ system…..
