In this video I help Miss Marie fix up her Civic. She smacked a raccoon on her way to work in the early hours of the morning. She didn't think it did much damage but a few miles down the road the car started to overheat and she knows enough from being in the shop to pull over and shut it off!! Let's see if we can get her car back on the road.

Kevin Byrne his care and respect for the ladies is apparent in all he does. The respect he shows everyone is outstanding. I got a feeling you wouldn’t want to be caught by him demeaning or pushing a lady around, I don’t think it would end well for the abuser.

My dad was a lifelong mechanic. So I grew up in a shop, cleaning parts, sweeping flours and anything else dad had for me to do. That was a good time in my life and I learned a lot from a very good mechanic. I'm now 81 and must say that I've used many principals learned at my dad's elbo. The principals of observing, analyzing, solving, and making the customer happy. you are doing a good job raising your family in a good environment and doing a very good mechanical job meeting your communities repair needs. I enjoy watching your videos very much. Keep up the good work.

I worked for a guy who replaced engines (put a Ford engine in a Jeep body) and did all sorts of auto repairs. He helped me install a replacement transmission in my truck and that was about 12 years ago and she still runs great. It was a huge help to keep me from paying full cost of replacement and I'm sure those girls appreciate having you help them when they need it. It's always nice to see a video of you helping them fix their cars. As much as possible try to make them do the work, it's a great confidence builder. Thanks for making quality content we enjoy watching your videos and my little 8 yr old daughter often asks me if she can watch that guy fix cars because he makes it fun to learn.

I think that this video is a prime example of why the channel is so popular. There are many other really good techs here on KZfaq. You go above the rest. Eric, thanks for coming to the rescue of a young person who is (from all appearances) trying to be responsible. I never got the impression she felt like you owed it to her and she works...at JOB. She stuck by your side pretty well. I here so many kids say, when something happens "well my parents will just have to buy me another car". The parents mistake was buying the first one! One tends to be more frugal, with what you EARN! Great video!

Good thing she simply hit the critter & able to keep control with no crash. Years ago a teen & her mom were traveling, the girl swerving to avoid a squirrel. They ended up in the hospital because she failed to keep control as she swerved to avoid the critter, going off road into a large tree. Totaled a cherry car (her dad's dream car).

True, raccoons are not in the rodent family. They're in the procyonid family of critters. They're actually related to bears, believe it or not. Fun Fact: Rabbits aren't true rodents.

I was thinking the same thing, when i had the front end done on my volvo v50 it cost the Insurance £2500 for one headlight, new bumper, new front brace and respray. I would say buying a month of ice cream Sundays would still be cheap.

Dunno about Volvos in particular, but it's not uncommon for a repair shop or dealer to order the part (which comes in the raw) and immediately send it out for paint, according to the vehicle's colour code - the customer only sees the painted result, so it looks like it was already painted when it arrived. These days, there's too many colours available for each model to stock one of each shade, so it's more efficient to just paint them as required.

Chevy Chase in rural areas with little lighting it’s not hard to accidentally hit critters. My wife drilled two armadillos in my 91 Honda Civic Si in the span of 15 minutes on a back County highway one night.

Those raccoons are goooood eating. They go great with opossum gravy. As far as heating goes for breaking free a bolt, I found that heating it up then quenching it breaks it free very nicely.

I'm 3 years behind here. Even if Miss Marie just paid for the junkyard stuff then Eric saved her a fortune. But I bet Eric absorbed it into Tax Deductible. Miss Marie is one lucky lady to have worked for you previously and you Mr O are her Knight in Shining Armour. You are a great guy Eric O and she is a lucky lady. Kudos. Your good deed for the day. It just shows the real Eric O we see, is the real Eric O we see. One great guy. But what is a man without his lady. Mrs O is a real lady and you are a great couple. How many wives would give their all to working in the Office doing everything, raising the children and supporting their man like she does. Random I know. You guys are very lucky to have a pick n pull. In Vancouver Canada they decided to get rid of a majority of wrecking yards. So you can not get parts to repair your old car anymore. Great job as always...enjoy your strawberry sundae.

Same here I was rebuilding a 82 Yamaha motorcycle and the year I finished the front end I hit sand and crashed all the old broken parts better shape than the new ones

I had a 1992 civic hatchback. My sister borrowed it and hit a deer. Busted the radiator dented the hood, broke a headlight, bent the upper radiator support… I fixed it with a 10mm socket and a shovel handle (to straighten the support) and a brick to smash the dent out of the hood so it would latch. I drive that car for years! And gave it to a friend with 250k miles on it. Who drove it for many years after that! Great video. It took me back!

I don't know any mechanic that would take the time to go to a junkyard to help out his customer. I'd have to wait forever for new Parts! A mechanic with a soul! Very Good news these days. Stay safe.

Back in the 70s,my dad was a mechanic, went to junkyard to grab a part, he then took a dump in a van in the junkyard, while he was dropping a roast, a guy opens the back door of the van and says damn someone's in the bathroom....ew

You are a sucker for strawberry sundaes. But well done. Good too that Marie stayed back and helped you every step of the way. Many don't.
