Bought the 82sx had to put a 18 inch bar on it to get it run properly cutting seasoned yellow box

I swear eBay customer service is shocking with regard to reliable product info. Guaranteed the seller thought it was a 72cc thanks to the brand, even though the brand is that to mislead the consumer. It's like buying a block of wood with "super turbo ultra performance lifetime satisfaction forever nice" in the name.

If you read the item description properly it tells you it's 58cc not 72cc

Used to not be the case, baumr and mtm had their saws marketed at the cc's said in the name.

So is the assumption that all MTMs are actually identical power heads just sold with different length bars or are all the capacities overstated?

Hmm not sure but all these chinese saws that have familiar looking engines might be much closer in size than jumping up 10 or 20cc. Had a chineas one that said it was 52cc about ten years ago and never saw much difference between all the different saws. The alleged 62cc Baus I had would probably also be a 52cc saw as well.

A bloody monster mate good throttle response and more torque plus a muffler mod to cater for the extra volume passing through. This saw really woke up.
