The seventies were so much fun. I was too young to do anything but watch from afar, though. Richard Schaal was very good in every tv show he was in. Too bad he never got that break that made him more recognized. Rhoda in her suit anticipated the Annie Hall look. Sally sure had some nerve. After ignoring Rhoda's warnings about Charlie, she brings him drunk off his ass to Rhoda's apartment and expects her to be fine with it. Some friend!

I recall Anne Meara and her husband when they were young adults and she had long hair. They did a comedy routine of her insulting him with wry quips. They were so funny, and a terrific duo. I am glad I got to watch all the shows of the 1960s and 1970s when new. It makes me older now, but those decades were simple (excluding the Nam war), and I was a child and teen during them. The 1980s were awesome too, with alot of good shows. I think all the good script writers died at the same time during January 1, 1990. LOL.

Jerry Stiller's scene with Valerie Harper when he first arrives & meets Rhoda for the first time is probably one of my favorite scenes from a tv show. I thought it was fantastic and there seemed to be a great dynamic between the two.
@ericminch Жыл бұрын
It is so sad, Michelle, that you feel like laughing out loud ("LOL", you wrote), about the night that all the good script writers died, on Jan 1 1990. I remember it so well, myself. There they all were, at a comic convention in Clear Lake, and the next day they had to appear at a special event in Moorhead...I can't go on, it's too tragic. Only Jerry Seinfeld survived, and he was but five years old at the time. Or maybe 46.

Rhoda should've called Joe right after Sally showed up with the very drunk Charlie. That's what I would've done in a heartbeat. It's only fitting that Joe should've taken care of his obnoxious best bud. Of course, that wouldn't have set up a comic situation. I loved this show. Still do.

Rhoda's character, at times, can get kind of irritating, and grating on your nerves, in this show. In real life, she's such a nice and sweet lady. Her smile truly lights up a room, and in her interviews she appears genuine, caring and sincere. I am so glad that, in real life, she has a solid marriage and a caring husband. She's been through some extremely difficult times and she's been so brave through it all. I wish her the best for the future, and I am going to enjoy her in reruns of MTM and Rhoda. It's been fabulous TV watching, back then, for a whole generation and again for today.
