William,I am sorry for your loss. No, you will never get over this. AS boys and men, we cling to our mother for all emotional strength. When we have an accomplishment, first think we do is show Mama. When we hurt, we need Mama. When she is gone, the things we do seem to have less value, there is no one left to give us the heart felt praise we need. My projects, wood working, or you name it, I need my Mom to dote over me. Mine has been gone for ten years now, I miss her everyday. You are an excellent wood modifier and a darn good instructor, I enjoy your shows and look forward to more, along with your dry sense of humor.

William, I just saw this video from 2015 and, even though it has been significant time since this occurred, I wanted to sendalong my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. There are not many events in life that impact a person in the way that a parent's death does; I know it was certainly that way for me. At this point, you may be far along in your grieving, but not your remembrance of her. I have heard it said that, as long as those who are alive remember their relatives who have passed, they are never really gone from us. I'm sure you are keeping your mother in your heart as I write this, and I'm certain you will see her impact on the way you raise your children. Take care William.

Edgebanding trim technique is brilliant. I mean brilliant! Anytime I did a hardwood band like that I used a hand plane to get everything flush since I always worried about router tipping as you mentioned....NEVER AGAIN. Huge thank you for that tip.

Thanks for your videos , you have a good demeanour in your videos which makes them a pleasure to watch.A lot of the training videos the commentator talks at the camera and you talk to the camera , there is a difference which make you sound normal in conversation.

I know the value of being able to explain in understandable terms sometimes complex ideas. You have that gift.

William: I am new to your site and appreciate your information. I was not aware of your loss three years ago and can understand. When I lost both my parents at different time and after that three brothers at different times. I turned to wood work to sooth my mind and knew that they would be there with me as I turned my wood to items that reminded me of them. I will be on your site all the time.

A few months ago I made your box fence. I use it with almost every project. I especially use the cumbie on top to hold feather boards and push sticks (boards). I love your content and sence of humor, ie "yellow pine". I grew up in a custom cabinet shop, making dressers, bookcases, cabinets. I consider myself a cabinet maker, not a wood worker. At 66 years old I am learning a lot of new woodworking skills.

Great vide and excellent flush-cutting idea thanks. It can also be applied to the table router. It's quick to set up and quick to use. My favourite is to use a cordless multi-tool - no set-up time and just as quick for small projects. There are so many flush-cutting techniques that it could occupy a video all on its own.

I was in Cabinet making for 35 years. The end result product was all well and good. That's what paid the bills. The aspects of cabinet making that I had the most fun with, and frankly, was the most rewarding for me, was the jigs and processes I came up with. I wish you had been around then so I could have 'borrowed' your brain power. I watch many of these woodworker channels but I always return to yours.

Our condolences on losing your mother, William. My mother is with Jesus, too. While I wouldn't have her back in the condition she was in, I still miss her. I will say a prayer for your comfort right now.

William, sorry to hear about your mother (even though its 2 years ago). I could not imagine a world without mine, and all the mothering I still receive is viewed with love. Shes happy when I fix things in the house and make some sort of furniture, so everything learned here contributes to the give-back, just to let you know what you do is still giving love back to Mama :)

William, your tips have been of great use to me. I use your method of setting up a box joint jig on a dado sled all the time. Your sense of humour always gets me too. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

William. I built and have used your multi function jig now for 3 years plus. It works great for thin pieces of wood both vertical and horizontal. Thin pieces would sometimes slip under my fence and your jig eliminates this. Great jig for flush trimming and for taller pieces. Simple build and useful. Just wanted to say “thank you for sharing.” I’m appreciative for both your videos and your ideas. Stay well!

Hi William, Although we have yet to meet ( I'm taking a few classes this summer) I wanted to express my condolences with the loss of your mother. Last year I lost both of my parents to cancer. I know how difficult it is to lose a parent. It's painful and nothing seems to make it right except time. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to helping so many become better woodworkers.
