I found your five cut method very interesting - and now I’m watching the two cut. It doesn’t matter whether your are in it for precision, the hobby or to have fun - somebody presents something and you look at it and decide if you want to use it or not - and leave it at that. people are weird! Excellent method for trimming box joint tails. I made this for an old sears craftsman fence. It doesn't have ends, is very narrow. I stacked up multiple copies of the center piece all the way to the top and it works great. I really appreciate showing how to use the dial calipers to get precise results.

Since most of us have only one table saw (and barely enough space for that) 90% kind of sucks! :-). Thanks for the early morning smile!

People mad about math don't have enough gray matter to do math. Fun? I'll tell you what's "fun"; not screwing up a project and producing a great product. You could give away solid gold bricks. Someone will bitch that there's no embossing on it. Then you could emboss them and someone will bitch that it has embossing. You can't make people happy. If they can't handle math and straight-forward instruction they can go watch bourbonmoth or whatever. Shame it seems you've not put up a new video in 3 years, if I see things correctly.

Everyone who does woodworking videos has a video on this method of cutting/joining box sides. This, however, is the only video I've seen which covers it in-depth enough to be able to go set up a saw and cut production pieces instead a learning curve on a pile of scrap. Kind of sucks, huh? ;)

A more economic, clear and faster approach would be to do the same procedure as the author has shown at 1:22, but instead of cutting across of a board, cut along. The resulting wedge will have longer side, which will magnify the error across its ends. If you don't want to cut along a board, just cut additional wedges like at 1:22 and place them touching each other edge. This will multiply the error accordingly (if you will not make a mistake by flipping wedges in the error-compensation direction).

I found your channel a few years ago and watched every video. I've always wanted to do woodworking but never took the plunge. Over the last year, I've built and helped with a few things; all out of necessity rather than an artistic creation. I'm about to take to dive-in, building out my workshop as tools are being shipped. And so here I am again, rewatching your videos. There is a lot of good content for woodworkers on KZfaq. Much of it is more inspirational. As far as I'm concerned, what you have put out is essential to having a strong foundational knowledge, enabling an aspiring woodworker for growth. Thank you for putting it out and keeping your channel up. I hope to one day see you putting out more content. Even if it's a patreon type of thing, I'd immediately join up. Haven't done anything like that before, but I would, again, immediately jump aboard if you were to.

To do things in later life one cannot pass over what is learned in early life. Avoidance of learning will prevent your functions in later life. Dumbing down of education proves this where all the money in the world does not make it better, but this is the only thing political people have learned.

I just got to the point where you calculated the error and then used a feeler gauge to shim the miter piece. I said out loud “I’ll be damned”. Math doesn’t scare me but my adhd will sometimes kick in and say “I don’t feel like figuring all that out right now. You rock dude.
