MUNCHIES: Meatball Shop

Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow are two meatballs from Manhattan who love meatball subs. After working in kitchens for a while, they eventually got their shit together and opened The Meatball Shop on the Lower East Side and, later, another location in Williamsburg. In this episode of Munchies we do what we always do with our rising-star chefs: check out their food, go out and get them drunk, and then come back to their restaurant and make them cook for us. I ate half a pound burger two nights ago and I thought I was good at holding food cuz I'm fucking fat, but these restaurant ppl just put it in like it's nothing, jumping from restaurant to restaurant and still fucking enjoy the food.

I read about this place, this video does not tie in with the review. The local NYC reviewer said all meatballs are done in "central location" not the restaurant. They are brought to the store and basically cooked or reheated. Secondly many Italian Americans (many experience eating meatballs because moms and grandmas make it) say that meatballs are average. The whole attraction seems to be the hype, good looking staff, the buzz because you have to wait in line. Food gets solidly average reviews.

Don't get me wrong, it looks tasty, but I swear 90% of the dishes/restaurants that Munchies covers are basically just different versions of minced meat. Meatballs, lasagna, ragu, about a million types of hamburger...

Munchies videos really depend on the personality and dialogue of the people they're following this video was less interesting than the guide to vegas but it was more entertaining because of good host dialogue and real interactions between friends no awkwardness
