Muscle Machines Are Back!

In the hey-day of diecast offerings, around the turn of the century, we had so many brands to choose from. One brand that had a distinguished presentation was Muscle Machines. But in the economic downturn, many brands fell by the wayside. The Muscle Machine Brand, originally owned by Funline, was sold to Action Performance and after awhile, it was acquired by Motorsports Authentics. After a few years hiatus, Maisto has acquired the brand. Maisto has an excellent global presence and is in all of the major USA toys stores so Muscle Machines are back in good hands! Now it is up to them to continue producing good products and diecast collectors to at least give them a look! At around $4.00 USD for the 1:64 scale singles, I'm sure you can find something for your collection!

Maisto does have an international presence and if I recall correctly, they will be providing these to Europe as well.

Agreed! I don't necessarily want to see Racing Champions, Fat Boyz, or some of the others but I am definitely glad to see MM back!

GREAT VIDEO...found the 1:24 scale '69 DODGE CHARGER R/T in YELLOW... this one was FOUND in WESTERN CANADA....THANK GOODNESS MAISTO has these now ...GLOBAL MARKETING!! OHHHHHyeahhh baby.. reminds me of the good ol days wayyy back SSP's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thxs

I have a big 'ol box of the original, regular issue 1:64, put away in storage. I will have to dig 'em out =) I never did buy any of the larger scale pieces but the detail is amazing!

That is an interesting topic. There are many collectors who didn't like the imports 5-10 years ago but now, the collecting demographics may have changed. Younger people are in the hobby. They are into imports, tuners and such. Will Maisto go to the extreme and dabble with models like the HW Mad Manga which is representative of the Japanese Bosozoku scene?

@CheezeMaster812 At least you had fun with your cars! Now that you are older, you will be able to buy what you like and decide if you want to collect them in the package or open some up to roll around and display loose.

i hope these hit the UK stores as I think they look fun and the presentation looks great. Maisto is definently having a larger presence, and while i dont care for the basic 1/64 singles, I really like those flat bed tow trucks.

Nice video. Glad to see the MMs back. A bit pricey, but I'll be buying a few. I still have a bunch of MMs from the early years. Got a lot for a buck each to use as wheels donors at Dollar General Stores years back. Welcome back Muscle Machines!!

Many of the Hot Wheels that looked tooned with a blown engine appeared after Muscle Machines came around. Mattel had cars with blown engines before but not with the exaggerated stance/appearance and only just a couple models.

Im only 15 but for some reason I Absolutely love muscle cars like camaros and mustangs from around the 60s-70s but then I also love nissan skylines, bmw m3 gt2 and gtr, and i LOVE the highway 35 and acceleracers lines. i wish i kept them in their own box or sumthn...i lost almost all my highway 35 since they are like 10 years old and i have lost a little bit less than half of my acceleracers

I think that we will be seeing tuners long before we see any NASCAR. NASCAR licenses are expensive for companies to acquire.

Cool video Mark, I just saw these a few days ago at my local TRU. I personally am not a big fan of over exaggerated, Unrealistic type castings. I have a few of the M2 Ground Pounders (which are very similar to muscle machines) and a few of the Older muscle machines but I usually go with the castings from the series that do not have blown engines and that seem semi-real looking. I know that these were always popular and I am glad to see they are back for the muscle machine collector's.

I do plan on going into storage and bringing out some of the stuff that I have. It won't be everything but a nice sample of some of the original Muscle Machines. It would be nice to open up my Stars And Stripes sets too =)
