The Muscle-Up is the calisthenics skill, that every bodyweight fitness enthusiast or athlete wants to get. This video is a tutorial on how to get the “kipping” Muscle Up. I achieved my first Kipping Muscle Up at the age of 55.
Follow along with this tutorial, and move through the progressions to get the Kipping Muscle-Up with the use of resistance bands.
I will reply to every comment, so please let me know how you get on and if you find this video useful. I have tried to keep it simple.

your vids are an inspiration. Im 49, been trying the muscle up on and off for a couple of years and never really seem to progress so kind of gave up but you have given me the kick i needed to get back nto it. thanks very much

Good work, i'm 42 year old. I'm able to perform 15 push up max for the moment. But i want to learn muscle up. Your video are very instructive.

You inspired me to start training for it again :) Couple of years ago my previous attempt was stopped by pain in my wrist which still bothers me when I push a bit more hard. I suggest to you to start training for Front lever as next challenge.

I have been trying for a few months to get a muscle up. I do weighted pull ups to gain more explosive strength but cannot get the muscle up technique. I am getting frustrated but I wont give up. You have provided some good tips. I will try with the bands. I have tried it with the bands a few times, but they throw me a bit off balance as I am fairly light in body weight. I will let you know when I get it!

Totally understand that if the bands are too strong for your body weight, they through you of course. 😂. It’s great that you do weighted pull-ups, so you probably have the strength. Hey Jake, it’s not easy, getting your first one. The technique has to be learnt, as well as the basic level of strength. But when you get it, it’s like riding a bicycle, it’s a great feeling.

Anthony you rock. Have you tried to kip up like gymnasts? without bending your elbows. I think you can do it in a few days of trying.

as always a very helpful video! 💪🏼💪🏼 I'm also currently on my way to a strict muscle up... have you or anyone else in the comments ever had the experience of achieving a strict muscle up in one training session and then having difficulty achieving even a kipping muscle up in the next 3 sessions, even after a three-day break? Would be great to hear of your experiences🙂

I find it harder to kip with band, but I need to be able to do it as it will take too much time to do it clean. I still cannot figure out how I should pull when kipping with band. I tried to kip first and then pull but it takes even more energy than just pulling.

It’s not easy. Swing out and fully extend your arms and legs until you reach the furthest point. The band will then be fully extended. As soon as you start to swing back, then pull hard, explosively, and use the contraction of the band to help. You’ll get there.

Usually yes. Especially in the UK at the moment it’s very damp, so I need to get a decent grip.

I could do band mu but I cannot really do band kipping mu at the same level of band. I think I should start pulling once I kip and swing back to the highest point?
