I'm going on 80 but these songs bring back pleasant memories from the 50s and 60s. Listened to the 50 kW AM stations at night like WKBW Buffalo and WBZ Boston when they would phase their antennas to the south with our girl. Locally WPGC from MD in the day. Later when stationed west of the Mississippi it was KOMA, Oklahoma City, OK, another 50 kW station at 1520 AM. My 427 dural quad Ford and other GM and MOPAR high performance cars were the vehicle to have. Viet Nam changed things for ever and we never got back to the care free days when gas was cheap, in some places 10-15 cents per gallon. What a great time to grow up in and become adults.

I love this music more and more as I get older. I'm 77 now and it brings back the happiest memories of my youth. I too feel this crazy world is totally out of control with all of this "woke" BS. Just put on a 1957 do-wop record, close your eyes and leave the zoo of 2022 behind and go to your happy place.

Don't you think it's kind of ironic that you are diggin on music that is primarly African American in origin and then complaining about "woke" BS? Like you I have a nostalgic fondness for this music but I also understand the importance of being 'woke'. I make a point out of being aware of history and social injustices past and present. There were a lot of "woke" people fighting for civil rights over the last 150 years and they helped make this nostalgic distinctly American music that we love possible. Can you imagine where this country would be if there were no 'woke" people fighting to correct the injustices that somehow continue to occur in the most unbelievable ways?

I'm now 68 and am glad I grew up with this music too. I may have been a baby in 1955 when rock & roll began, but I know I shaked, rattled and rolled in my crib to that music all the way through my years and into my teens up through the 60's and 70's. What a great erra! All the music had melodies, all the artist and class, and real talent. They didn't need all the electronics being used in music today. They were the real deal. Cars and clothes had styles too. The sock hops, dance parties in friend's homes and on the beaches. Boys looked like boys and girls looked like girls. If I could, I would do it all over again. 😎

My cool big brother was a teen in the late 50s and he played guitar sang Blue Moon and imitated the cool singer dancing and performing for me teaching me to be cool too. He was handsome kind funny and dramatic in his own ways. So tragically he passed away in drowning in 1961. 😢 I was devastated and was only 13 when I lost my hero. But now and always as I get older I’ve love many kinds of music but by far Do Wop is my brother s music and it takes me back to a magical fun time with these awesome fun songs of fun love and dance. Yep I feel relax ed and motivated . Not too old ever at a lady of 75 keep it going.🥰

My fingers can get tired praising all this musical gold. But it's a sweet pain if you know what I mean. Long Live Van Nuys Blvd and the friends I remember from there. I've mentioned this before. I would feel eternally blessed (believer in Christ) that if I ever lost my mind I hope it would be stuck in the 50s with an imaginary radio sitting next to me 24/7 pumping out this music. The closest thing to Heaven till I go there.

I’m 84, 85 In March. The fifty’s and sixty’s were magical times for all us young ones, our music was filled with love and a joy of life and living, loud yes however you could hear every word of a song, could pick out every musical instrument, when we went dancing at week end we would actually have some contact with a partner even in the jive or rock numbers which often saw air between the dancers.. Now a boy or girl asks someone for a dance they get on the floor and yards apart and jiggle without ever coming together !!? And people in general seem so insecure intense and can’t seem able to accept any rejection, to us it was just part of living. Ah…..happy days, years even.

There's something very special about the connection, 50's and 60's cars, and the roots of rock n' roll! They are both very American and they remind me of how great this nation was and can still be! We must restore and preserve it for future generations!!

"WHITE ONLY" "NOT COLORED ALLOWED", "PEOPLE OF COLOR NO NEED TO APPLY" school were SEGREGATED, KKK, Cold War, And yeah you miss when "Times were simpler", perhaps with a narrow minded, simple mind like yours. AMERICA sucks now, "Murica" sucked just as bad back then.

I often tell my husband, I wish times now were the way they were when I was growing up 🤗.
