Vanishing Point - This one is a little easier to read and applies all knowledge towards comics.

Complete Guide - This one is very technical and advanced. It's not something you'd want to read, more skim to know what is possible. It's a great reference book on how to correctly figure out size, complex and irregular shapes, and just saving your brain when it comes to hard perspective.

I have a few questions. 1:What do you do when your background perspective doesn't seem to match with your character's perspective? 2: what about fish eye lends perspective? 3: What if you have to use more than 2 point perspective? Do the same rules carry on to that too?

I can do normal perspective lines for buildings that are the same shape and are square or rectangular but I really have trouble with obscure shaped buildings like in fantasy worlds or alien buildings. I also have trouble with natural landscape like mountains and forests.

Perspective...the never ending story.I actually enjoy perspective /backrounds(even when I mess them frequently kinda...;)) When it comes in "3D" (or better 2D pretending being 3D) I guess the hardest parts are bodys and very small objects because the smaller something is the more it can look kinda off- just millimeters to big/ small can do a difference to look believable or off. Do you have some you enjoy most in doing comics/webtoons or some you hat with passion? I enjoy telling the story with pictures in general (thumbing) The most meditative part (even when I suck ) is inking and I hate- I mean I actually HATE flatting or in general digital coloring (what is kinda odd since it is what I did for living ) Thank you for doing so nice and competent videos. I think your channel need much more attention!!!!

Always so helpful. You went kind of fast on how to make equal size objects (you have another video on that too I think); either way, I'll save this and watch it again to take notes 🙂 Also, when drawing a character in perspective (low and/or high angle...even the side in this video), do you use simple shapes to flesh out the character form? That's a difficult angle to draw.

2:11 is something i have never heard anyone mention like. EVER. i struggle The Most with perspective because i am neurodivergent in a way that makes it just. even less intuitive, i think. but this knowledge may have just changed my whole life LOL

great video! would love more breakdown on rotating objects in perspective, in complex scenes most things are not perfectly aligned towards the vanishing point - how to easily approach it, especially if the shapes are more organic like landscapes without buildings with no clear geometric shape to envelop it in.

For part two, could you give a tip for foreshortening things? Whenever I draw someone reaching towards the viewer or something similar, it just looks like they have "Yaoi Hands" 😓😅

I've purchased a handful of art books through my life, but I've only skimmed them. Honestly the best advice I have for you is don't be afraid to fail and try to make as many comics as you can. Start with short comics that don't mean anything to you, just fun, silly. Get longer and more serious as you get more comfortable. Yeah, they are a little tricky. Try watching it step by step while drawing along. You have to do it a few times and then it will seem easy.

The Horizon LINE is always there where you want it (or better where the eyeline of the viewers should be) Sinde the one point perspective is kinda the "short version" of the two point perspective they can have the same point( but you use two point perspective to generate another effect. Importent is : They always are on the SAME horizone line (even when you have to enlarge your canvas to see or imagine....) so if you take a photo to compare you will barely find a perfect one point perspective- even when it looks like - Not even two point ( since higher stuff or lower stuff rearwardly taper to the sky/ to the ground as well ) Perspective is a construct. It works for the mind. :)

Is it better to start with background (or at least the color palette) before coloring the characters? I've been practicing drawing but when I add my background I struggle to blend them together to the same lights and shades

I have a question, How do you draw dreams or flashbacks in a webtoon or manga? How can you make it appear as a dream?

desaturate....or make the borders of the panel blurry. if you want the dreams to be inside panels, you can include the "waking up" panel under them, the dream sequence will be like speech bubbles for the "wake up" panel.....or use black/dark-colored background outside the panels. been reading too many comics my entire life and these bits worked for me as a reader.
