I am 16 now and I was 15 when I first posted Carbon Gloves on Webtoon. I had big hopes about it but even though it had been almost a year since I've posted the first episode I have 8 subs haha. It makes me feel like I worth nothing when no one cares about my comic. My friends have teased me for making such useless thing instead of studying. I had to study and draw my comic at the same time and now I've posted 13 episodes beacuse of my life as a student who has to study for the university exam. My family didn't want to support me, they wanted me to focus on school subjects but I cannot stop the scenarios in my head! Also I have a bond with my character Çağıl so I just draw it even though I get no likes and subs. Oh, and my art has been improved a lot during this year so I am afraid that readers may look at the first episode and hate the art and just go away😢

I noticed that most webtoons converted to print are mostly done on webtoons layouts that are more traditional, similar to you example. I am curious how other vertical oriented comics with long continues vertical action scenes can be converted to print?

I'd like to shout out Adam Warren of the comic Empowered, because he often times includes little tidbits about comic arts in the comments on the web version of the comic, which is where I first learned about speed lines. He also mentions using a french curve when drawing them to get a consistent curvature.

Gosh I hate the Webtoon Comic Format... I really don't want to conform to it... I like my Print Comics, that's what I grew up with, that's what I've learned! I have to find some sort of Middle ground, really. I don't wanna give up my Print comic style. I'ts just a Classic, for me this is what comics should look like... But yeah... those dang phones...

Really good ideas here! I write all my ideas and story fragments on paper with pen. Its so disorgnized and a nightmare to sort through when constructing my story. I also use the notepad app and dictate ideas that come to me when i go for my early morning walks. Its a great brainstorming time for me. Again, though, a nightmare to sort through. The benefit is that its the best way for me to record my ideas as they come, but i really need to adopt your system to make life easier

I've mostly doodled, thumbnailed, jotted all over books notebooks in physical as well as draw on my phone just ideas and ive collected them in this program I learned of from a book writer actually, its called scrivener- I'm not fond of the formats but scrivener lets me be super messy and hang notes and it helps my brain connect dots faster for character arcs.

I'm so used to traditional layouts in Manga- figuring out the way the panel space carry's weight for time with bubbles etc. has honestly tripped me up so this video has been SUPER helpful, thank you so much!
