Жыл бұрынWelcome to the January 2023 Hua Hin Thailand train line construction drone flight video update, my last flight before I leave Thailand! Not to worry, Geoff is taking over as pilot again and we'll continue to bring you the monthly update until the new line is fully functional.
Today's flights were flown under cool and sunny skies as winter finally arrives in Hua Hin. This month we have two overpasses nearly ready to open, fully laid rails at the start and end of the raised section and continuing progress on the new station, along with more overpass action way down in Khao Tao. I get very up close at the station and fly under the flyover so be sure to check this one out.
In the news, we have the breaking story that Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, formerly known as Bang Sue station, will begin long-distance train operation on January 19. Two bombs went off in Songkhla, derailing a train and then killing workers who later came to do repairs. Flooding in the region has also halted travel. And finally the old Korat train station is being knocked down in favour of a shiny new one.

Great videos from this channel. If possible, I'd suggest that you start your flight a little further north from the overpass near Palm Hills. From there, viewers will be able to see the end of the airport's runway and get updates of its expansion progress.

Unfortunately I can't do a drone flight there due to the absolute exclusion zone around the airport. The drone literally refuses to fly into that zone. We could try to do a ground-level hand-held video at some point of that area.

Looks like the Hua Hin haze is strong. Exactly why I had to leave Thailand, continual air pollution. Thanks for the update Mike

I don't think it's pollution, just a cloudy day.

Hi Mike, I have to agree with Martin, the haze is very strong, even Hin Lek Fai has haze on it, and the hills nearby gradually disappear into the haze. It might be a cloudy day, but that doesn’t explain why the hills and buildings are covered in thick haze. I left a few years ago after living there for 10 years and the pollution and garbage filled streets are a turnoff. Now that I’m home I appreciate the sidewalks, bike paths and all the lovely parks in my area. The beaches here in Queensland are much better too.

Great video. Thanks a lot! As someone who uses the back road from Soi 88 to Soi 102 most days, I'm very much interested in the road progress. Any idea where I can get info about the plans and likely date of completion? Is the new road going to follow the rail line to Khao Tao as well?

I haven't been able to find any official source for dates of completion, but I have my fingers crossed for July. From what I can see in the flights I believe the new road will stop just before the flyover.

@@MikesTropicalTech I suspect that too. I guess it will link up with Petchkhasem Road somehow. I can't imagine it being finished this year, tbh.

@@geoffwales8646 Ah sorry, I meant the new train line and station will be operational by mid-2023. I suspect the road will be opened section by section as it is completed and I don't see the first segment working until 2024.

Wow you’re moving to Barcelona what’s the completion date for this train service from to the city ? Is it a double train track all the way? How fast will the trains go? I’ll be there this time next year.

No official completion date but I'm hoping mid-2023. Yes fully double-track. Trains may be same speed as now or a little faster.

Looking forward to travelling on the new line . I hear the whole country is in some sort of rail update up to the north down to where you are, and also I hear eventually to Pattaya . This is great that the government are investing in this infrastructure it will make life for the tourist so much easier to travel
