Welcome to the January 2024 Hua Hin Thailand train line construction drone flight video update.
We offer you this special bonus episode, a month after the official grand opening of the new Hua Hin train station and the inauguration of the dual-track train service.
Geoff is back in town and did a top to bottom drone flight to get a feel for how much more work is required on our section of the line.
It turns out everything north of the station is done, except for perhaps some railings on the pedestrial ramps and stairs on each of the over-track walkways. The station is slowly proceeding, as ever, and the parking area still needs to be finished up. Down in Khao Tao both overpasses are fully functional and handling traffic, with an interesting pattern painted onto the road surface, and he finishes up with a flight over the temple in the reservoir on a beautiful sunny day. And as a special extra bonus, Geoff caught a train leaving the station and heading south.

Well the new station looks pretty good to me. I’ve done a lot of tidying up I thought they were having brand-new trains running to and from Bangkok. Perhaps they will win in the future. Looking forward to using the new service and thanks for all the videos over the last few years guys, much appreciated. DSM. fro the Uk 🇬🇧 ☺️

Funny that Hua Hin Today reported in December that you had wrapped up this series! Anyway, FYI, the dual overpasses on Soi 101 opened on Monday, 18th December, a week before Christmas 2023. The " interesting red paint" is actually raised, and is a specific speed calming device. The overpasses are a vast improvement over the bumpy level crossing, and the traffic lights on the intersection of Phetkasem Road and Soi 101 at Khao Tao are lifesavers.

Yes we plan to highlight road construction in future videos, but not on a monthly schedule for now.

The new station looks great but does seem to me unnecessarily large considering that there will be another new station for the proposed high speed line near the airport in 12 years time or so.

I have my doubts that the new line will ever happen. The first I heard it was going to be way out by the Bypass road and everyone would have that long drive to get into town. I hadn't heard anything about a high speed line being located near the airport.

Can't figure out why there is a four track system just through the middle of town - seems pointless (pun not intended). Around the new station, if the additional track were to be removed it would give much more parking, something which looks in pretty short supply.

I think the remaing ground tracks will be used for freight, no need for those to go through the new station.

The only possible reason for that would be weight restriction on the elevated track section which they bypass. That doesn't bode well for future expansion for the below mentioned proposed high speed service or the logevity of the elevated section.

Not enough traffic to warrant that for either so just an ego bull**** thing
