Complicating things are the need to modify an EVSE to European standards, interpreting the J1772 protocols and getting the charger configured correctly. Nothing worked the first time. The American plug has L1, N, PE and two data pins. This is connected to one phase. The European plug has L1, L2, L3, N, PE and the same two data pins. This is connected to AC three-phase current. But alternatively only one phase can be used. The data pins use the same signals in both regions. The European Type 2 plug is also called Menneke's plug because that was the company that was able to introduce their proposal throughout Europe. This plug has been legally required for EVs across Europe. Tesla in Europe also uses this plug to charge with DC.

As a non-techy/leccy love the way you precisely explain all in a comprehensible manner. I see you have plans in Europe but any chance of returning to Thailand and setting up Mike's Tropical EV conversions shop here? Bet you'd find a huge niche in the Farang and Thai market (Mike Fai 555;). Btw gave your channel a mention in next vid, hope that's ok. STL

I'll be back in Hua Hin for a holiday for high season, but won't be starting an EV business there. Difficult to get a work visa, low possibiity of sales, etc. My friend in HH is still doing eBikes.
