I've been waiting for this moment for 7 months! But it's finally here... and the 4Piston KT1000 is absolutely gorgeous. This thing is fully built from bottom to top: 4Piston Pro TSX CNC Cylinder Head, Ferrea valve train, VTEK Killer cam setup, a sleeved block, Saenz rods, Weisco flat top pistons, the whole nine! This thing should hold some serious boost and is slated to make 1000 horsepower at the wheels. LET'S GO!!

Ya those shots with the engine, intake and exhaust mounted up were mint, but the star of this episode was the flawlessly executed “Your Momma” joke. 10/10

"there are chapters in the timeline below if you'd like to skip this" Man, are you insane? Why on earth I'd like to skip any thing in yours videos? I really like the way you are transparent with costs. But the best thing in this video is that it's noticeable that you are having a lot of fun, we can see just by your body language, and that make us have fun too. Finally the motor with intake and exhaust, looks like a jewelry.

Detuned it for reliability. The engine can handle 1200 hp. Doesnt mean the transmission/driveshaft can. Also the car is too old and light (not enough down force) to handle that much power without electronic drivers assists.@@xushenxin

400hp NA k24 sounds great except the reality is that engine will be pig to drive as a street car and the type of fuel it will require will be your next practicality issue. For a road car, as far as practicality and reliability goes. 300hp NA out a k24 is near the limit before it turns into something painful to drive.

I apologize if this has already been said but I have been following along on this build since near the beginning and this episode was next level for you. I really enjoyed that you let a lot more of your personality out instead of just purely laying out facts. I also liked in the previous episode that you didn’t put on a fake face. You laid it out as it was and that’s an important part a lot of people don’t realize when it comes to these builds. I truly think having a good mix of entertainment along with the excellent wrenching/fabbing/tips is where you truly shine. Keep up the amazing work :)

Couple of things, Mike. First, I was right in the middle of narrowing the 8.8 for my Vicky when I saw this popped up, soooo, had to stop that to watch this (and my coffee got cold). 2. Spot on on the right tool for the job. LS4 is a lot of weight to compensate for, and as for the sound, personally, I have gotten over the need for the "V8" sound. Mind you, I'm 56 and grew up on that sound. But the sound of Ken Blocks Hoonitruck was enough to sell me on Turbo 6's and 4's. I'll bet this is gonna sound like a REALLY pissed off Rally car! I can't wait to see it paired with the transmission!
@andrel3
@andrel3 2 жыл бұрын
I think this combination makes the most sense. Packaging, weight and power. Maybe an LS but then it doesn't with out huge body and chassis changes. And then serviceability becomes a pain. (Less likely to want to use and want to work on it (No fun in that!!)) I've have K series Honda's, Miata's and now a LS S10. The LS in a 3000lb truck is awesome. But its a pain to work on. This is the right path. Shoot a MR2 with a K Series is a poor man's version. I am glad you are doing this Mike. Hot Rodding has no rules. And with no rules all cars become fun! Godspeed

I won’t say it makes more sense from a purely logical/engineering standpoint, but here’s an engine option I bet you didn’t think of that would be absolutely killer, and hey it’s Italian and sounds amazing too: ALFA Romeo 24V V6 3.2 or 3.0 modified. They come in transverse layout arrangements and a shop I used to work at in Seattle worked with a South African builder to turn them into 3.7 400+hp NA monsters. The shop in ZA runs them with spooly bois on a GTV6 with around 650 at the wheels. It’s significantly lighter than the Ferrari setup and still has very special sound. However as stated I won’t argue it makes more logical sense. I love what you’re doing with this build!

The motor you have chosen is perfect, turbocharged and air shifted it will be an absolute time attack beast!,. I think your logic is perfect. You could even instal a sequential transmission with a stain gauge and use the ECU to program shift points and you will be a time attack God! Lol! Seriously this is one of the best channels on youtube, you seriously have given this build a great deal of thought, and you dedication to building the best components you are capable of producing shows real passion. I have been where you are you feel totally over doing a particular job, but just know you vehicle will be a SEMA and you do not what to be like a lot of the cars there that arrive on a trailer and are at best half baked. You are building a monster and that monster requires hard work. I like a lot of others watching can not wait to see you competing at tine attack against your buddy's car or at least at the same events. I am retired but I have done numerous engine swaps, and done everything from a 55' Caddy to a 5 inch lifted 89'Jeep with a Cummins engine swap. I had a few buddies helping with every build, (many hands make work go much faster). I also did several job totally alone. I am rooting for you, keep up the fantastic job, and dont get disheartened. It can help to take some me time away from the build from time to time.

It's not other people's job to make you happy, that's your job. I was a huge fan of Magnum PI (og magnum) back in the day, so when this popped up I was so excited. Finally, something different!! And with a car that means a lot to me.

I’m a huge Ferrari fan. I’m currently looking for a 308 for my fun, inexpensive collection I have assembled over the last 5 years. Currently I have a 944 turbo, 928S4, an original stock bug eye WRX and a one owner California car 1978 Mercedes 280CE. I know I’m all over the place and that’s what makes it fun for me. My hesitation up to this point is the reliability and service of the 308 but have convinced myself that’s part of ownership of these cars and a motor swap especially a LS would be blasphemous. I actually snickered when I read the title to your vid. I kinda laughed but I was curious (because it wasn’t an LS swap like every other project car on here). You absolutely won me over man, great idea! I love it and can’t wait to see more! I almost forgot to subscribe and smash the like button! Good luck can’t wait to see the rest, thanks!

Wish you just did a 2min cinematic outro of just the engine towards the end. I would never get bored.
