I am so happy for you and your husband. I recently lost my baby Emma, she was stillborn. I am 40 and hopping I can get pregnant again. I came across your videos and it gives me lots of hope 🙏🏻. The name you pick for your son is beautiful 🤩. God bless your family 😇

Beautiful birth story ❤️❤️. You are NOT a failure for getting an epidural. It is a great pathway for moving along a stalled labor especially when you’re exhausted. I’ve had 5 babies, 3 unmedicated and 2 epidurals and can say that every single labor is different. An epidural is a true blessing of God through science for labors that just aren’t moving and moms that have been laboring a long time!

We need to be kinder to ourselves...nothing wrong with getting an epidural...it gives us an opportunity to rest and to be more present for the delivery....congrats!

I think the world of motherhood needs to stop with the pressure of "natural" childbirth. As if you aren't a real woman if you don't suffer. We all suffer during childbirth! I thank God for the medical advancements that saved all my babies lives! Completely unmedicated is wonderful but natural isn't always beautiful...its sometimes horrendous. Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby and the really lovely balanced birth story.💜

I am a danish doula and it makes me so sad when people think natural birth=real women. Every woman should have the birth they want🙏but and there is a but. Science shows over and over, that babies born with as little interferens as possible are born healthier. Of cause we should use every technical opportunity to save lives❤️❤️

@@liselottenormannsrensen7867 The danger with the trend towards "natural" childbirth is the risk factor that often accompanies it. The trend towards delivering baby at home seems to me to be an unnecessary risk. When things go wrong during delivery, they go wrong fast! And no matter how near you are to a hospital you run a risk that baby might not survive. If I had not had a hospital birth with one of mine we would both have died. It's unfortunately not that uncommon. We need to remember, that we very rarely loose babies today, and that's because of medical intervention. My babies born with a lot of high tech intervention were all extremely healthy babies and adults. A lot more healthy than they would of been without it. But it's a lovely job you have to assist in helping mothers during this process. God bless.💜

Bobby Smith yes... Yes... Yes... I was blessed with 4 children (after being told I would not have any) but I had problems and had to have emergency c sections. I have been told by my husband's family that I've never gave birth..i always get comments at how I am less than them.... When my niece went into labor everybody degraded her for being such a sissy because she was in so much pain so early. mocking her that she wasn't going to handle labor... She was asking for some kind of pain killer. Well the doctor ordered her to get pain medicine by iv. But no one checked her. They just assumed she was being a sissy. Well baby was born less than 30 minutes after they gave her medicine and baby was having trouble breathing due to the medicine given by iv.. she was only in labor for about 2 hours... turns out she wasn't a sissy her body just skipped early labor... Here recently I watched a lady who was miserable in pain, ruined her complete birth experience. She finally caved and got the epidural.. she sees herself as a failure..she was in labor for over 48hours. baby was born with major bruising to head because he wasn't aligned correctly. It all could have been avoided if they would have been more concerned about momma and baby than "natural birth"... That baby should have been took by C-section. There was clear complications.. Women need to be taught that everybody is different and the most important thing is them and baby.. God is the one in control and we need to go into labor with no expectations and just allow God to guide momma, daddy and doctors where they need to go.

@@IronSharpensIron127 Absolutely! The reason we are blessed with so many successful safe deliveries today is firstly to our God, and secondly to the wonderful medical intervention that He blessed us with! I am shocked at the pressure on young mothers to deliver the "natural" way. There's a kind of elitism in motherhood that's rather bullying. Shouldn't we support each other? Both my sisters are midwives, one for 25 years, and she was horrified at the danger some mothers will put the baby and themselves in.. for the sake of that "natural" delivery, so they can wear that badge. I think pride is sometimes ubove the safety of the baby?

I agree 100 percent. There is no prize for how much pain you went through. The result is the same. Pain or none you still have a baby.

I'm 38 and had my first just after you. My labour was very similar to yours in how it started. Mine progressed very quick and I wound up having an epidural as well and I'm glad I did because the end of my delivery was complicated. The first time I saw my daughter was such a transformative moment. It was like the world melted away. Coming home was also really emotional. We weren't sure children were going to happen for us. It was surreal. Thanks for sharing!

Your birth story is just so beautiful. I appreciate your honesty when you spoke of feeling that you let yourself down for getting an epidural. Of course there was no need to feel that way as you did what you knew was best for you all at that moment. Also, you did what you came to do, which was bring home your beautiful baby. Yet, I completely understand that sometimes, as mothers, we have to take the time/steps to reconcile with ourselves a birth that didn’t go quite as planned. I know the feeling very well. So I commend you for taking care of yourself in that area, and also sharing your feelings. It’s going to help many women who feel the way you did. Wade is so blessed to have you and Matt as parents. 💓

I so love your videos- they’re always so real and you speak right to the camera with such genuineness. I have been watching so many birth stories lately because I, too, had a really positive birth experience last September with my son, Drew and listening to other birth stories reminds me of how beautiful it all is. My water broke at 7:30pm, dilated to a 5 by the time I arrive to hospital at 8:30. Chose an epidural (mostly for the pain of getting stitched up after a tear!). Labored calmly until 12:53am at which point by son was born. So only 5.5ish hours total. He came out perfectly healthy at 38 weeks 3 days. A complete 360 from my first birth experience with my beautiful daughter, Morgan at 29 weeks 5 days, Unmedicated. She spent 60 days in the NICU but is perfectly healthy.

I’m trying to understand (and I’m pregnant at the moment) why would I let someone else down if I ask for an epidural? Why would I have a need to prove something to someone? I hear it a lot and I’m absolutely not getting it. In my opinion the most important thing is healthy mum and healthy baby. It’s not a competition. Nothing to proof here…We go to dentist and use anaesthesia to drill into a root canal. I understand all the risks that can be caused by having an epidural but there are so many other risks that we take daily to ourselves and our children. Why don’t we use what’s available for a comfortable birthing experience….? Just curious

It's not about having the strength to birth without an epidural, it's deciding that an epidural would work best for this labor, that whatever is making you hesitant to get one isn't as big as the benefits that getting an epidural would lend. You are a strong momma regardless of how you birth your baby, or even if someone else births your baby for you (surrogacy or adoption).

Congrats , what a beautiful birth story 💚 what a fabulous name too xxx I felt the same about the carseat but here in Ireland there's a little head rest thing , so is a little bit more supportive for the head and they look a bit more cosy n tight n secure - if that makes sense. I also only discovered the little sun/ wind sheild that u can pull from the back of a car seat n clip to the handle- I kept seeing people have one and I was like were can I buy one - and my friend then showed me I had one all along 😅🙈 I had two very different birth experiences on both my daughters , one weighing 8 pounds 9 ounces, other 5 pounds 2 ounces.... still so different now too!! My first birth length very similar to yours maybe even a bit longer, and I didnt get an epidural but in the end I had an issue with birthing my placenta, so needed to be rushed to theatre and get an epidural after all! So on my second baby I decided to make the choice to get an epidural and was best decision as felt way more present in the delivery and more connected to my husband too and just a better birthing experience over all. I then again had an issue with my placenta but this time instead of being too embedded, it was not embedded enough so my baby wasnt getting the nutrients so was such a small baby - my little miracle. She's 7 now 💛 . I dont know why there's so much focus on feeling like we failed something by getting an epidural, but as u say its noone else but our own pressure. We need to be kinder to ourselves and does not make us any less a woman or more of anything.... just a mammy who did what was needed 💜 I love your story and so happy u got your family and your precious baby son xxx

I am not a religious person, so bear with me if I say something stupid or inappropriate please: I do not think by getting an epidural you let anybody down, and you did not let God down. If He lets everything happen for a reason, then you being able to get an epidural was His work as well.

Ashely(spelling?) Just wanted to say again what an amazing story just showing God's love and mercy... your an amazing woman and it's so refreshing to see a woman put others including her child and husband before her own selfish pride. You could have toughed it out without an epidural but it would not have been because it was what was best for everybody else. So I know you said you felt disappointed but I think you were a true insperation. Our bodies are part of a broken sinful world and they do not always perform the way God designed them. But you showed your willingness to submit to God, die to your own desires and do what was best for the situation. That is true strength. I would like to hear the story from your husband's point of view (if he is comfortable). It's such a beautiful experience to hear both momma's side and dads side.. everything from infertility to the birth... It is such a testimony what God has done in y'all's life
