@@LemonBerlin Because whenever I increase the strength, no matter how slowly and even if I don't use any exfoliant with it, my skin gets really irritated. I have been using Tretinoin for 8+ years now, this is the maximum strength that works for my skin. Higher isn't better, the one you can keep up consistently is the best. Plus, exfoliants have other benefits Tretinoin does not have.

Tretinoin will be effective at 3 times a week and will help with blackheads, but if you want to add an acid, maybe go for Salicylic Acid rather than Glycolic Acid. Salicylic Acid is oil soluble, so it is better able to get into the pores.

The retinol available in skincare products like The Inkey List is way less potent than the prescription one, so I don´t really understand why you would change back. Hi dr Anne, i have a question, im a 39years old white male that started Tretinoin for anti aging. Is my 4 month and the 1i used once a week and little bit red and peel, second month 2 a week with redness but not peel, and then the third month i started 3 times a week(monday, wenesday and friday). First two week my skin was Amazing, soft and glow, all the fine wrinkles disapear, but after the third and forth week my skin came out with a few cystic pimples and red around, i feel like a Teenager and i have no idea is because of over using Tretinoin, because i am mixing with Hydroquine(my serum Am and Pm daily) and i just need to reduce the amount of Tretinoin again to twice or even once per week until my skin accustom again. Thank u and amazing video.

Every skin has a different treshold, so if you have redness with the way you are using it now, go back to using it twice a week. I recommend you speak to your prescribing doctor about the best way to go for you individually.

Is there any reason you don't put tretinoin around your eyes other than to avoid irritation? As far as I know tretinoin is effective for around the eyes and I have used tretinoin around my eyes for years without any problems.

Simply because of irritation. If I do put it too close, I get eczema on my eye lids.

Hello Doctor. I have acne prone and oily skin Love your content. I was just prescribed tretinoin 0.025% and Benzac gel last week and my skin started peeling very badly after using it daily for 1 week. I will cut down to using it every 3 days to let my skin adapt to it slowly. Can I ask if Dermalogica Clearing Skin wash cleanser is okay for my situation? I was told by sales lady that it is very mild in salicylic acid 0.5% and they have natural ingredients that soothe the skin from irritation and its non dying. Do you think its okay?

Tretinoin is beneficial to use in the same routine as Niacinamide for example, and supporting ingredients like hydrating and calming ones are safe too. I do not mix it with potentially irritating "actives" like acids or Vitamin C. Does that clear things up?

There are retinol products designed for the eye area. What I am using though is Tretinoin, the prescription, which is way stronger than retinol. I wouldn't be able to tae it up to my eyes, and it is not recommended to do so. I know it works for some people, but I wouldn't suggest doing it. As for eye dermatitis/ eczema - I don't think treating them with your own mixed solutions is a good idea, I wouldn't mess with my eye area.
