I think KZfaq recommended this because I've been "researching" people's personal experiences as my 30 year old little sister fights breast cancer. Then I was just interested because medicine and science and sarcasm. Your humor and those last shots of you skateboarding gave me the laugh I so needed right now! 😂💕

wrist guards are the most important protection item for roller skates and skateboards. I'm taking roller skating as my PE credit and 1/3 of the class wears wrist guards and another 1/3 now wear wrist braces from their prior lack of wrist guards.

I loved this video! One question, when buying safety gear, WHERE is your helmet!?! Good job with the other safety stuff, especially wrist guards. Keep those gorgeous science brains safe! My brother, in the 1980’s when he was learning, would have his board slid out from under him and smack his head. He’s pretty tough and a genius, but it looked really painful. We didn’t wear helmets back then. Learn from our ignorance.

I know this is an older video but I’m watching allllll of your videos right now. I love you so much. You are so freaking hilarious, but you also seem like an amazing doctor. I had a horrible birth experience with my first and only child. I was cut into before the epidural had spread (it wasn’t an emergency) and I thought they gave me something to knock me out, but nope, I passed out. I was also exhausted after 74 hours of labor, 49 of those super uncomfortable and then painful active labor. My water broke at gosh I can’t do the math right now. But about 26 hours later, being stuck at 9 1/2 cm with a cervical lip for over 4 hours (with my OB and the on-call midwife genuinely helping me try everything we could do I could get my vaginal delivery). But, there was meconium in my waters and my son just wasn’t tolerating things very well. I agree I needed the section and my OB really sat down and talked with me to come to this decision and heard out my fears. But then my wonderful OB got called away on a really serious matter with another patient (which I totally understood and felt for that poor mama, who I obviously didn’t know exactly what was going on with her, but I knew it was a crash c-section). So, I got the on-call OB and the anesthesiologist just kept saying, “don’t cut yet we aren’t ready.” They flipped me upside down just a little bit to try to spread the epidural up a little because I could even tell exactly what they were doing to my stomach. He would ask if I could feel it and I would say yep you’re pinching me and it’s your fingernails and it’s sharp. My husband said I screamed bloody murder when he cut and then I guess I passed out. I woke up in the recovery room and the on-call OB didn’t even come check on me. A couple of hours later, my OB came to check on me and let me cry and talked about what could’ve happened but he was super empathetic and honestly, seemed angry that the OB handled the situation like he did. I finally got to meet and hold my son after what seemed like everybody else did and his cone was kind of on the side of his head. He just wasn’t engaged correctly and that’s why I was stuck for so long. All in all, horrible experience. I’ve been to counseling but I’m still terrified to have another. Sorry for the novel, and I don’t know where you are exactly, but I would travel and stay somehow for awhile just to have you deliver a hopeful VBAC. My son was also 10 pounds with a huge head and I didn’t Thisbe any gestational diabetes or anything. Based on my LMP, I was 38+6 when my son was born, but based on the fact that I measured two weeks ahead my whole pregnancy, and the size of my babe, I believe I was closer to 41 weeks. Anyway, I want YOU for an OB and if we do have another child (I am not getting any younger and my son is almost 4 but I just had a full thyroidectomy after struggling with Grave’s Disease for two years, that was not controlled by methimazole. Every time they raised the dose (I was in the middle of a thyroid storm in the end) my white count kept dropping until it was at a dangerous level and my endocrinologist had me come into the hospital ASAP and we did a bunch of things to control it all before surgery. Sorry for the novel I tend to ramble. Anywhoo, I want you there to help me try to achieve a VBAC! Wish I lived closed to you so it was an option. I love your videos, I think are beyond hilarious, I love that you have had your own labors that haven’t gone as planned (not in a mean way and not for you but I think you have more empathy because of it), and I love more than anything that you use up to date research both in your videos and I assume with your patients!

Don't worry, you'll catch up with the baby-thing in no time. Once you got the hang of using the snap-turn-change, it is only a matter of time. Weeks. Months. Years the most. :) After you said you just done 24 oncall, i was sure the video was going to be a fallen-asleep-after-work video :D
