Vispipuuro! Best when it is home made! Lingonberries or black currant or red currant (lingonberries are most common, black currant my favorite), it is basically same stuff with mannapuuro, but it is done by berry juice (not to milk) and whipped at the end. 😍

Karjalanpiirakat munavoilla! But there is a huge difference between homemade and store bought so you should find someone who makes them from scratch 😘

My favorite is mashed potatoes, meatballs and gravy with carrots (boiled or grated). All home made of course, because those prepared foods are usually a bit gross.

Pyttipannu is the Finnish equivalent to Italian pizza and the whole consept of using what ever leftovers you had in your fridge. Potatoes, sausages and onions are such frequent ingredients in Finnish cuisine, that you are almost assured to have atleast those as leftovers. Thus the premade freezer version has specifically those three ingredients. Techically any leftovers fried on a pan, is pyttipannu.

I'm actually a bit amazed of how many genuinely finnish foods you like. You need to try one more thing! It's called vispipuuro, it is made with manna and lingonberries, whisked into this delicious foamy dessert. It is a bit sour though, since lingonberries are not exactly the sweetes berry around, but I definitely think you should try it! Also, chocholate mannaporridge.

Riisipuuro is really easy to make, but for even easier to brake. All you need is water, salt, porridge rice and full (high fat) milk. The trick to not to mess it up, is to add the milk when it's almost done, since milk is easily spoiled by heat. The only downside is that it is really time consuming, but selfmade "rice porridge" is not only cheap, but also heavingly delicious, especially with some sugar, cinnamon and milk.

Poronkäristys is just amazing! Expensive but soooo good.

Dave with the chocolate milk but a tad bit of hot water in the bottom, then put the power in and mix it, it mixes well with hot water/ water in general, and then add milk, works for me fine, no chunks.

It's autumn so you must collect some great mushrooms (or buy them atleast)! Kantarelli (chanterelle) is so good with onion mixed with cream and potatoes! I also like chicken sandwich by Rainbow. Those triangle shaped boxes at S-Market or Prisma. Try that!

just a small tip, I tend to eat rice porridge with a salted butter. It's the best add-on, personally I know it as oldschool style, since my grandpa was the only one in our family to do the same.

We have kinkkukiusaus sometimes at school. It is really good! I really don't have a personal favourite but i like so much of many Finnish foods. Good video! You ahould try Saaristolaisleipä, as you liked the tosi tumma ruispalat, the ruispalat is based on saaristolaisleipä, I think you would love it!

Dave Cad, I have a tip for making smoother cocoa with O'boy! ;) Put the powder in first and add milk a little bit, stirring all the time. When you have the o'boy in a smooth, thick liquid, add the rest of the milk in slowly. Sure, you need to know how much powder you need on the get-go if you don't heat it up, but in your case the lumps are welcome as well. :D

If you don’t want the little bits in you chocolate milk, you should first put milk in a glass and then put some of that pouder on top and then wait(don’t stir) until the pouder has fully soaked then stir

If you happen to visit the city of Tampere at some point, head to the restaurant called "Plevna" (it's just next to a movie theater by the same name) and try their pyttipannu. It's the best of it's kind I have ever crammed into my mouth. They are also a microbrewery with some delicious ales, and I would especially like to recommend their mead.

You should try mixing cocoa powder and sugar in mannapuuro while making it. Sooo good!

You really should try "ryynimakkara"! It's a sausage with no meat in it, it is very traditional and Finnish, mainly eaten on Christmas. You can use the liquid thing in karjalanpaisti on top of it or the grease from the Christmas pork (oh god my awful English vocalbury is showing itself in it's horrendous form)

Try putting a tablespoon (or three) of the hot chocolate powder, and just a tiny amount of milk. The result is brown runny goo, that tastes great! Keep adding more powder to get the thickness you want. YUM! Ps. For perfectly mixed hot chocolate add milk to the runny goo. No more powder floaters in your drink!

I recommend to try rye bread (ruisleipä), slices of cold smoked reindeer (poron kylmäsavu leikkele) and fresh lettuce top of it (lehtisalaatti.)

Dave you were actually very close to the perfect combination - manna + o'boy mixed together (only when it's still warm) :)

O'boy + vanilla ice cream mixed together as soft ice is so much better than any chocolate ice-cream out there. And since you have mannapuuro, you should make vispipuuro out of it.

Here are few of my favorites, that I highly recommend trying: leipäjuusto ja lakkahillo (=Cheese bread;squeaky cheese with cloudberry jam) and köyhät ritarit (finnish french toast) you make them with old sweet bread like Pullava ;)

I tend to mix oboy with a bit of milk (like, a BIT) before addimg more milk, there's less dry powder that didn't mix that way :)

I like to roll a straw out of cheese slices and drink some of the chocolate milk with it.

We eat those things too, but here a tip for you. Mix some cocoa powder with that mannapuuro. This blows your mind, its so delicious

You should taste "vispipuuro". It's yummy! Self made is always better (of course) but Saarioinen make pretty good stuff. Traditionally vispipuuro has made from semonlina boiled in lingonberry juice with some sugar. If you'll make it yourself you could replace lingonberry something other flavour (orange, pineapple, cherry, etc. juices). You'll can enjoy it as such or with some milk on it.

I made Mannapuuro and Riisipuuro in Huittisten Saarioinen about 2years when i was 24, now im 34 so 10 years ago :)

Chopped liver patties (jauhemaksapihvi) with mashed potatoes and lingonberries, also kesäkeitto and cabbage casserole 😍

pro tip: if you want to get rid of the chocolate lumps in the oboy cocoa you can kinda squeeze them with your spoon against the cup so they break! you’ve probably figured that out by yourself but I just wanted to share my tip! 😂

Make sure that you put cocoa flour in a mannapuuro .se it looks really good when mixed!

You need to try Fazer's greenball Jaffa bisquits (Fazerin vihreäkuula Jaffa -keksejä)! They're awesome!
