Soap making video of a beginner soaper for the Soap Challenge Club Feb 2020 - Collaborator Challenge: Mica Line Category. This was a failed attempt because I didn't read the guidelines properly to have THREE mica lines and only had two. But we must not waste the footage! You can watch the video of the soap we submitted here: • Soap Challenge Club | ...
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
February soap challenge was the collaborator challenge and I invited my fiancé, Ronnie. This was his first time making soap! He usually cleans after me after my soaping session and now he got to make soap too!
The colourants I used in this video were:
White- Titanium Dioxide
Blue - Indigo powder
Red - red clay
Essential oil blend: Lemon, orange and Lavender
Time links to the video:
0:22 Mixing of lye solution and oils
0:52 Splitting the soap into three portions
1:01 Colouring the soap batter white
1:34 Pouring of the white soap batter
1:45 1st Mica line
1:56 Colouring the second layer blue
2:11 Pouring of the blue layer
2:24 2nd Mica Line
2:32 Colouring of the third layer red
2:58 Cutting of the soap
3:15 Planing the soap
3:27 Finished photos
It was quite frustrating not being able to touch the soap and blend it. Ronnie was like a snail doing everything and was not listening to my instructions at all! He couldn't follow my demonstration of checking the trace and need verbal instructions instead. Nevertheless, I think he did a great job and the soap turned out quite cute with a nice colour combination. He is happy with what he did but then he said he will stick to cleaning in the future.
Thank you Amy for organising such a challenge again. For more information about the Soap Challenge Club: soapchallengeclub.com/
