My first impression of living in Seattle for the past 5 months as a Singaporean, what I like and dislike about the city AKA the pros and cons of living here. Some of my experiences may surprise you so stay tuned.
Hi everyone my name is Chen, I am a recent MBA graduate from Cornell Johnson coming from Singapore and I'm current working in the tech industry in Seattle. Having lived or traveled to several big cities over the past few years, I really want to share my true feelings about Seattle as compared to other big cities, hopefully this video is helpful for people considering moving here.

Man, you have Vancouver and Victoria for road trips. Olympic Peninsula, Mt. Rainier. It is great!

I like the weather in Seattle too. Not too hot or cold compared to some places in the midwest, southwest, and east coast.

Went to college at UW in Seattle with a guy from Singapore. Edward I think was his name - really cool dude. Hope he's doing well after all these years.

I agree with you mostly that downtown closes down at 8pm but I think that's because less office workers are staying downtown after work. If you travel to any surrounding neighborhoods (Capitol Hill, Fremont, Queen Anne, beacon hill) the shops and restaurants will be busier than downtown past 8 :)

Hey AhBoy, I saw you mentioned your wife. Specific question, but how did you do it for her during and after your MBA? I know that she could get a visa during your studies, but not a work permission. So how did she spent her time?

Seattle is a good chill place. Can you share more about the daily life there? And maybe working in USA vs Singapore as well?

You mentioned you can bike to a grocery store across town, but you forgot to mention the heightened anxiety that your bike may get stolen while you're inside shopping 😅

Seattle is cool to visit! not for me to live. way too too expensive, I don't like that cool/damp rainy most of the year climate. A warm/hot sunny climate all year or most of the year is perfect for me. The crime is out of control and homeless problems. plus, that may be the reason why a lot of business are not staying open later or have closed for good in downtown because of that. It's so far away from so many other places especially for driving, too many activist groups like Oregon and supremacist groups that can create madness. It does has pretty landscape but its earthquake zone location is treacherous! It's not the most friendliest place either. Housing is too high and cost of living is really high. I'll just visit there, that's it

Interesting insights thanks for sharing! Yes the housing is definitely on the expensive side, esp these few years with the tech scene booming. Had no idea it's within the earthquake zone
