Could you tell me if I need a Finance degree to get started as an Investment Banking Advisor or Analyst, or if online courses from platforms like Coursera would be enough? I have a Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering and 2.5 years of work experience, but I don't really enjoy it. I have a natural interest in business and finance, and I've been selling laptops since I was 16, cars since I was 21, and even tried real estate with cold calls. I'm quite outgoing and talkative, with strong analytical skills.

Hi, I just visited and researched your KZfaq channel (AhBoy in USA), and by analyzing it, I saw that you have 833 subscribers on your channel. Its not enough to monetize your KZfaq channel, and you don’t have enough audience engagement for your video. One of the problems is, Your videos aren't reaching the target audience because you are not using targeted SEO tags on your KZfaq videos, so your views and your channel aren't growing, and your channel needs more setup. I can help you grow your KZfaq channel. I’m Emon, working as a full KZfaq monetization, promotion, and video SEO service provider since 2021. Already, I have completed 100+ jobs from our agency. 100% I can guarantee to improve on any KZfaq channel with my experience. I have big plans for your KZfaq channel. What are your plans with your channel? Tell me, of course Best Regards,

Thanks! I would almost always recommend two-year MBA unless you are staying in same industry/role. Having two recruiting cycles (internship, full-time) present you with a lot more opportunities and is overall safer bet especially for international students.

I am an international student, and I aspire to pursue an MBA in the US with the goal of establishing my own startups in the country. Do you think pursuing an MBA would be worth it, or do you have any better alternatives in mind?
@AhBoyInUSA
@AhBoyInUSA 3 ай бұрын
this is a complex question I recommend u seek more opinions, here’s my 2 cents: Pros// 1. MBA gets u into the door and legally enter US for extended period of time 2. Top MBAs (think M7 schools) provide network necessary for start-up, especially schools like HBS that has startup specific curriculums Cons// 1. MBA is expensive and start-up typically does not allow you to pay off student loans in the first couple of years. Alternative is work in big companies for 2-3 years post MBA den transit to startup 2. there might be cheaper alternative than MBA, I don’t know which though, maybe other masters program or internal transfer from your company

I resonate with prioritizing and ownership the most. I’ve never had to review prioritizations on a daily or sometimes hourly basis before, and I’ve never experienced such a blurred boundary of what I own vs I do not own. There are times when I point out a problem identified in output metrics and the likely business causes, but was asked for business actions needed and feel that’s beyond what I can advise on. I’ve also been in meetings/initiatives/projects where there is not a clear owner and it was chaos. One thing I don’t agree with is SQL skills, I do noticed that at least in some orgs, Finance has very basic SQL skills except for the one or two people. Every week someone would ask in the group chat “I need to extract this data but not sure how, does anyone have a query I can use”.
@AhBoyInUSA
@AhBoyInUSA 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! Glad to hear you resonate with some of the takeaways, prioritizing is always challenging due to the ambiguity of our roles where we need to 'figure out' which initiatives are worth owning. Good point on SQL, having solid SQL skills definitely gives you an advantage. I guess I'm referring to as one moves up in seniority, often times tactical work like building queries are tasked to junior analysts who can learn data structures faster than us. 😀

Hi there loved your journey, was thinking of doing an mba in cornell too but the aim of breaking into banking, just wondering was it very competitive to break into IB US? also in terms of visa, since your sponsored, generally how many years do they sponsor you and will they renew them after it expires or they will ask you to leave? And in terms of getting green card, is it easier to get a green card with an MBA + H1 visa sponsored by firm already given that you currently working in us?
@AhBoyInUSA
@AhBoyInUSA 6 ай бұрын
yes IB is very competitive especially for international students. Assuming u r one, I would talk to alums in prospective schools and learn about success rates of international students getting into IB. I believe H1B visas are typically for 3 years then subject to renewal, I’m not sure how renewal works have not reached that stage, but my guess is the company will help. Greencard is really dependent on the company, some might need u to work for a few years b4 applying others might help very early.
