What are the differences between working in Singapore vs working in the USA? especially in the area of workplace culture and norms. Having worked in both places (fortune 500 companies), today I will share with you what are 5of the difference I have observed and what surprised me.
Hi everyone, my name is Chen. I'm a recent MBA graduate from Cornell and I come from Singapore. I have been working in the tech industry in the past year after graduating from business school. If you are an international student or employee in US, or interested in career in the tech industry do leave a like, comment, and subscribe for future content. My uploading schedule has been irregular these days as I have been traveling a ton for both work and leisure, perhaps I'll upload some business travel videos soon too if that's what interest you.

What are the culture shocks you encountered working in a different country?

Been living in the us for a long time but you just made me aware of some super obvious things in retrospect! It’s so true that family is actually a huge thing here, it is in SG too but just on diff dimensions (like maybe filial piety instead of time spent)… and you’re making me sad i haven’t had a proper destination lunch in years 😢

I enjoy your pov as someone who tried the reverse path (American who did an MBA in SG with a view to working/settling there). Has the way you train yourself or build relationships for professional development changed since the move? Do you see in the Singaporeans in tech on the US West Coast more often settle there or eventually repatriate?

Hii brother, In Cornell MBA program, what is the primary difference between 'area of focus' and 'intensive'. There is a sustainable global enterprise area of focus and also an intensive, which out of both will give more in-depth knowledge in that field?

Tbh I’m not familiar becuz I didn’t do either of them. Both sounds like optional 2nd year course selections to focus on a certain field. Intensive from what I recall was a short 9 weeks package on a specialized topic -e.g fintech, normally requiring u to travel to NY to do it
