Justin's dad had sadly passed away before Christmas, and Justin shares his experience of his first ever funeral experience as he witnessed his father's burial service.
Justin's wife (Sarah) also joined him along with his mother and sister, as they support each other during this tragic time.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for all your kind words of support, prayers, and for following along in our journey during this holiday season ❤️🙏💐

Sorry for your loss. Me as a viewer I’m happy for the little steps he made like meeting your wife before your mom and sister and showing up to your son’s birthday. He always seemed hesitant based on your stories but I feel in my heart that he actually would’ve been present more if it hadn’t been for your mom’s disapproval

Justin, don't be like your dad, mom, and sister. I don't know how religious you are or not, but I've been taught to believe that forgiveness is for you. Not for your dad, your mom, or your sister. It's for you. You have to be an example for your children. They watch everything you say and do.

Sarah is the most wonderful example of how to live through difficult situations! She could of joined you, Justin and there wouldn’t of been any good memories! Your wife is amazing! I choose to follow her example! It isn’t easy, but through my faith in Jesus He has helped me walk in forgiveness.

I think Justin needs to work this out himself. Telling him he needs to forgive his father isn't helpful. Sometimes forgiveness happens sometimes it doesn't. He shouldn't feel shame for his feelings, which are justified. We can all acknowledge this fact.

Correct I am in this position..and I do sort out the dysfunctional things my parents did to me . Anyone who tried to force me to forgive, I pushed them away..as they are jumping boundaries.

Justin feelings are valid nobody can tell you how to grieve. I’m sure in time he will be able to process all the emotions he felt for his father. Please be there when he is ready to talk about how he feels. Blessings.

Remember you’re going to be going through a wave of emotions. It’s ok to be angry and still love him. It’s okay to love him and hate some of his actions. Give yourself permission to feel it and ask for help to work through it. Don’t get stuck. In time, you will find your peace. I am so very sorry for your loss. I pray that your whole family is able to come close together.

sarah is truly a blessing. you can tell she has always brought out a vulnerable side of justin that clearly has been supressed his entire life. even at 6:00 when she talks him through what he truly could've possibly been feelings; so warming and compassionate. justin its okay to feel the things, and healing is never linear. take time to process and ask for guidance through your emotions. although it seems sarah already helps with that which is amazing.

My moms family is Irish - growing up I couldn't quite understand the concept of the large Irish funeral and then the BIG party afterwards......but it was always enjoyable to see distant relatives.........Justin, time will heal and don't let anyone dictate to you how you should grieve/feel, that is totally personal - everyone is different!

Sarah, I know that feeling. You just made me cry, too. Justin, you have to understand that just because you don't know a person well doesn't mean you can't cry. He was your kids' grandad, and your father and Sarah's father inlaw just that means so much to your wife . I too just follow you on KZfaq but I cried when I heard the news , it was because I know you guys.

Sorry for your loss, I hope the story of your parents is a lesson learned, that we shouldn't let fear and hate take us over to the point where we miss out on the lives of the ones we love. Happy dad got to meet your kids, but can't help but think about all of the memories he missed out on for such silly reasons.

I don’t think Justin needs to forgive his father or his anyone in his family. However that doesn’t mean he needs to stay angry. A 10 year history of what amounts to emotional abuse is a lot to get over. Let’s see what his family does in the next ten years. Hugs to you all ❤

Your love and support of each other is so visible, and you sharing your experiences and how you work to communicate and grow with each other will be a blessing to others. I don’t know you personally, but I get emotional. I think for me personally it’s the thought of what your experience might be like. It’s empathy and sympathy I suppose. I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I wish he had been more involved with your family over the last 10 years and I wondered if he lived if there would have been more opportunities to become closer. I like to think so and imagine what it would have been like to get to know your children better and be a part of your life. I like to think about what his heart would have opened up to receive and give. Perhaps he will be watching over you. I love the picture of Justin's dad and what Justin felt about it. It was really nice. I am so glad that Sarah was there with you through the transition and burial, what a considerate and loving woman.

Justin, my heart aches for you. I buried my grandfather in 11/17/23 and my grandmother on 12/11/23. Peace be upon your father. Peace be upon our loved ones. Sometimes forgiveness is for ourselves. We can't expect those who has hurt us to give us an apology. As Christians, we forgive and already accept it in our hearts. I pray the both of you will have some peace and cherish the short time you had with him. You will have the rest of your lives to enjoy good company with those who truly loves you ❤️ 🙏🏽

my condolences to you. It’s not an easy thing to experience. Look after yourselves. I had to do this last year with my dad- I had a newborn and no siblings for support which was really hard. The grief still hits me randomly

I really really related to the sharing of the favorite photo of your dad and saying "this is how I choose to remember him". I was astranged from my mom up until she was in the hospital with cancer. I took my 3 small kids at the time to visit her a lot. She died 2 weeks after diagnosis. At the funeral we used a favorite photo I had of her smiling with her pet bird on her shoulder and her cat on her lap. This is how I choose to remember her too. You don't have to excuse the wrongdoings, but you can choose to let go of resentment for your own healing. Hugs!!!

Hi Justin, my dad died in February and if it brings you any comfort, I have not been able to cry or feel grief yet. I just can’t really access it. I felt that same stonewall task orientated feeling. I think that you can be compassionate about how long it takes to be able to forgive, or grieve. Sometimes it even takes years in therapy. It’s very deep rooted pain, and the brain buries it deep as a protection mechanism.

My condolences to you all. It is hard burying the ones you love even when they have hurt you. Justin, I hear you and understand your sadness and unforgiveness you feel towards your family. All the time wasted and missed that could have been used to love. Sit with what you feel and when you are ready remember that forgiveness is for the hurt person first so you can go forth with your own family.
